The Low-Information Evangelical – Part 2

August 31, 2014

Appearing in part 1 is the phrase “low-information voter” (LIV) which is oft used by a popular radio talk show host.  The host suggests that those who make up this population set are individuals who vote for a candidate or important issue having little or in most cases zero knowledge about either.  LIVs are highly opinionated even when they have no idea what they’re talking about. Also included in part 1 was the following quote from D. Edmund Wright.  I appreciate the way he expands on the LIV concept: But... Read article

The Low-Information Evangelical – Part 1

August 16, 2014

We are told throughout the New Testament to judge, to test, to discern, to assess, to rebuke, to hold one another to account, to make moral distinctions, and to pronounce judgment when and where it is due. ~ Bill Muehlenberg The phrase low-information voter (LIV) was made popular in the mid-1990s.  Although the LIV is uninformed on the issues, he casts his vote.  The LIV is often highly opinionated even when he has no idea what he’s talking about.  A popular conservative talk show host has labeled a segment... Read article

Cowardly Christian Entertainers

June 22, 2014

During an interview with The Independent last year, country western star Carrie Underwood, a professing Christian, got the media’s full attention when she decided to come out in support of gay “marriage.”  “As a married person myself,” she chirped, “I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry.  I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.”  Underwood... Read article

Glenn Beck Goes Off On “Religious People”

June 2, 2014

“The Doctrine and Covenants leaves no doubt about the Mormon teaching of exclusivity when it says the LDS Church is, ‘the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth, with which I, the Lord, am well pleased….’” Glenn Beck recently threw a hissy fit on his daily radio program over “religious people [who] claim to be followers of Christ” getting upset that he was the featured convocation speaker at Liberty University (LU).  Beck accused those who were concerned over a cultist preaching... Read article

Does The Bible Really Say We’re Not To Judge?

May 12, 2014

Some professing Christians become infuriated when a “watchblogger” has the chutzpah to report on a false teacher by name, as if naming names is unbiblical.  High-profile leaders and bloggers who mention heretics by name are often accused of demonizing or judging them. For example, when I expose Rick Warren’s latest effort to unite with globalists, Catholics, Muslims, New Age/New Thought occultists, and when I examine his health plan and his penchant fortwisting Scripture (he often uses it as a tool to... Read article

World Vision, Christian Organization?

May 3, 2014

I wrote about the controversy swirling around the so-called Christian organization World Vision here.  For those who are unaware of what occurred on March 24, WV announced that they had plans to hire “married” homosexuals. The backlash was fast and furious. Christian leaders, Roman Catholics, the pro-family movement and others in the faith community made it abundantly clear that they opposed WV’s decision to hire people in counterfeit marriages on the grounds that the Bible teaches that homosexuality’s... Read article

World Vision – Christian Organization?

April 26, 2014

Part 1 The dust has settled a bit since Christian humanitarian aid organization World Vision’s March 24 announcement that it would hire gay couples who are legally married in the state in which they reside.  Since “World Vision-gate” remains a hot topic, it’s time for some introspection; likewise to do some digging to find out if WV truly is a Christian organization, as it claims. When WV announced its decision to hire gay people, not surprisingly Bible believing Christians found the decision unsettling.  Clearly... Read article

Addressing Concerns Over “Son of God” Film

March 11, 2014

Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. ~ Eph 5:11 Not surprisingly the movie “Son of God” has created quite a stir in the Christian community.  Before I gave the theater my money I read several reviews, blog posts, Facebook comments and viewed TV interviews of husband and wife team Mark Burnett and Roma Downey promoting their film.  Roma is a familiar face to many and is best-known for her role on the successful TV show “Touched by An Angel.”  Mark Burnett is the executive... Read article

A Culture of Counterfeit Christians

March 3, 2014

Have you ever run over a dead skunk in the road?  I have, during a heat wave.  The smell got into my tires and permeated our garage for days!  I’ll go out on a limb and say that no one takes pleasure in the highly offensive smell of skunk spray, dead or alive. My point in telling you this is that to God the stench of sin is much worse than skunk.  For an example of just how much the Lord hates sin, grab a cup of coffee and read First and Second Kings.  Given our penchant for getting things fast, here’s... Read article

Rick Warren’s New Book “Daniel Plan: 40 Days To A Healthier Life” Awash With Doctrines of Demons

November 13, 2013

Rick Warren is one of America’s most influential Christian ministers. He’s so popular that many folks call him “America’s Pastor.” Warren has earned a reputation as larger than life and until a couple of years ago he was large around the middle! Because of health concerns he decided to shed a few pounds. But why go it alone? After all, he had his own personal cheering section if he wanted it – Saddleback Church in Lake Forest California, an evangelical megachurch he started in 1980. Thirty-three years... Read article

Sin Is At The Heart of What Is Wrong In Your Life

October 9, 2013

No one has any right to believe that he is indeed a Christian unless he is humbly seeking to obey the teachings of the One whom he calls Lord. Christ once asked a question that can have no satisfying answer, “Why do you call me, `Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” – A. W. Tozer   Bill and Beth (not their real names) are professing Christians.  Bill gave Beth a “promise ring” so she decided that God would be okay with them living together as man and wife.  If the arrangement works out, they’ll... Read article

What Would Jesus Have You Do?

July 12, 2013

No question, we are a culture that loves to be entertained.  Even churches have caught on to the public’s desire for 24/7 entertainment. As a consequence, a large number of evangelical churches are now driven by a need to fulfill this desire in their congregants.  And what better way to pack the house in ginormous auditoriums than to offer a 90 minute stage show enhanced with state-of-the-art sound, lighting and video systems. Lights, camera, action! To boost the mood for the Praise and Worship segment of the service,... Read article

Going Against God “Just For Fun”

May 5, 2013

Today we’re hearing a lot about Spiritism or Spiritualism, not to be confused with spiritual or spirituality, as in “I’m not religious, I’m spiritual,” or “I’m into spirituality.”  The term Spiritism has replaced what was once called animism and other religious practices involving the invocation of spiritual beings. Some religions meld Spiritualism with Christianity.  For example, a blend of Christian and African folk beliefs that originated in Brazil is now practiced in the U.S.   Spiritualism... Read article

Christians Mystically Encountering God

April 20, 2013

For a couple of decades there has been a big push by numerous evangelical leaders to incorporate pagan practices into the visible Church. These unbiblical practices have their origins in Eastern religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism, likewise the New Age movement. Roman Catholic Trappist Monks fully embraced Eastern religion’s pagan practices. Through the writings of Thomas Merton, Basil Pennington, William Menninger and Thomas Keating these practices have been introduced into mainline Protestant churches as well as... Read article

Retailers And Entertainment Industry Spire To Hyper-sexualize Girls

March 24, 2013

Victoria’s Secret (VS) has sunk to a new low – and I didn’t think that was possible. Recently the retailer introduced a line of intimate apparel that they’re calling “Bright, Young Things.” The new line is designed to appeal to teen and tween girls. Get a load of this: In the spring line, you’ll find an array of panties, from lace back cheeksters with the word “Wild” on the back, to a lace trim thong with “Call Me” on the front, to green-and-white polka-dot hipsters... Read article

Celebrating 40 Years of Legal Infanticide

January 22, 2013

Every year on January 22 pro-aborts celebrate the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Forty years ago the Supreme Court legalized abortion in the United States with a 7-to-2 majority vote in favor of Roe. Subsequently states were prohibited from deciding on the matter. And because of the High Court’s decision women now had a “fundamental right” to choose to abort a pre-born child. The Court’s decision has resulted in approximately 55,772,015 million abortions. That’s 1.394 million abortions each year! So every 12... Read article
