Corporate Cronyism: Solyndra and Evergreen Solar

If pleading the “Fifth” smells, the Solyndra drama will prove the stereotype applies in this instance. A good old-fashioned scandal in an election year pumps up the media juices. The timeline on Solyndra tells only part of the history. The linkage of corporate cronyism dodges the real world result of “Green Energy” frauds. These shams can be traced back to the Enron schemes, especially their industrial wind model that defrauds the public.

The miserable record from the shovel ready stimulus spending should alarm every American. The distorted idea of using public funding as seed money for private startup companies goes against every aspect of free enterprise. Heretofore, such government nepotism for campaign and climate change supporters was reminiscent of a fascist economy. Now it is sold as a post-industrial initiative to save the planet.

Popular climate expert Paul Driessen laments in Climate Prostitutes, Charlatans and Comedians, about the nature of the favoritism corporate welfare game.

“Rather than developing our nation’s own vast natural resource and human resources, America is wasting billions on politically correct technologies and companies, like Evergreen Solar, which got $486 million in taxpayer subsidies before going belly-up this month. As Al Gore likes to say, that is unsustainable.”

The corruption in the Obama administration needs dissection under a microscope.

Andrew C. McCarthy in National Review sets the stage on the continuation of this insidious pattern of bipartisan abuse of the taxpayer. “The Solyndra debacle is not just Obama-style crony socialism as usual. It is a criminal fraud. That is the theory that would be guiding any competent prosecutor’s office in the investigation of a scheme that cost victims — in this case, American taxpayers — a fortune. Although Solyndra was a private company, moreover, it was using its government loans as a springboard to go public. When the sale of securities is involved, federal law criminalizes fraudulent schemes, false statements of material fact, and statements that omit any “material fact necessary in order to make the statements made . . . not misleading.” And we’re not just talking about statements made in required SEC filings. Any statement made to deceive the market can be actionable.” With the FBI raiding the offices of Obama’s crony capitalist financiers atSolyndra, we may finally be moving toward acknowledging the obvious: “green energy” is a multi-$billion swindle warranting criminal prosecution. From the Wall Street Journal:”Congress has been investigating the company, which received a $535 million government loan guarantee in March 2009 and announced August 31 that it is filing for bankruptcy. Yesterday’s FBI raid is the first hint of a larger government probe, which is being conducted in cooperation with the Department of Energy’s Inspector General.” Obama apologists use their standard playbook excuse as ABC News reports. “By the time the Obama administration took office in late January 2009, the loan programs’ staff had already established a goal of, and timeline for, issuing the company a conditional loan guarantee commitment in March 2009,” said Jonathan Silver, who heads the Energy loan program.” Climate Progress publishes this timeline (during the Bush years provided below) — verified by Department of Energy officials — that shows how the loan guarantee came together under both administrations. May 2005: Just as a global silicon shortage begins driving up prices of solar photovoltaics [PV], Solyndra is founded to provide a cost-competitive alternative to silicon-based panels. July 2005: The Bush Administration signs the Energy Policy Act of 2005 into law, creating the 1703 loan guarantee program. February 2006 – October 2006: In February, Solyndra raises its first round of venture financing worth $10.6 million from CMEA Capital, Redpoint Ventures, and U.S. Venture Partners. In October, Argonaut Venture Capital, an investment arm of George Kaiser, invests $17 million into Solyndra. Madrone Capital Partners, an investment arm of the Walton family, invests $7 million. Those investments are part of a $78.2 million fund. December 2006: Solyndra Applies for a Loan Guarantee under the 1703 program. Late 2007: Loan guarantee program is funded. Solyndra was one of 16 clean-tech companies deemed ready to move forward in the due diligence process. The Bush Administration DOE moves forward to develop a conditional commitment. October 2008: Then Solyndra CEO Chris Gronet touted reasons for building in Silicon Valley and noted that the “company’s second factory also will be built in Fremont, since a Department of Energy loan guarantee mandates a U.S. location.”

 
Objective analysis must acknowledge that the race to paint the landscape “Green” has done little more than burn greenback notes in a ceremonial ritual to the climate warming gods. The Solyndra prototype for disaster is not an abnormality. Reuters point to the similarities of another solar company that took the public for a ride with government backing.

“Prior to Solyndra, Evergreen Solar was the most high-profile U.S. solar company to collapse. Evergreen was once at the forefront of U.S. renewable energy technology and had planned to produce its solar wafers in Massachusetts. Ultimately, even a plan to shift manufacturing to Asia could not save it.”

Jarrett Skorup from the Mackinac Center for Public Policy states,

“The bankruptcy of “green jobs” darling Solyndra is in the news because it could potentially cost U.S. taxpayers $535 million due to a federal “stimulus” program loan guarantee. The Silicon Valley solar-panel maker’s failure comes on the heels of another “green” corporate welfare beneficiary also going under, Evergreen Solar (with a factory located in Midland). These deals were big losers for Americans.

Both businesses repudiated claims that company management or the current market for “green” energy products were the cause of their failure. Instead, company officials cited intense competition from lower-cost Chinese manufacturers: “The solar power market is intensely competitive and rapidly evolving,” wrote Evergreen Solar’s chief executive officer, Michael El-Hillow.”

The Boston Globe adds the sorry details.

“Evergreen Solar Inc. will eliminate 800 jobs in Massachusetts and shut its new factory at the former military base in Devens, just two years after it opened the massive facility to great fanfare and with about $58 million in taxpayer subsidies.

Evergreen itself has a factory in Wuhan, China, built in collaboration with a Chinese company, Jiawei Solarchina Co. Ltd., and with money from a Chinese government investment fund. The company had previously said it would shift some production from Devens to the Wuhan plant but yesterday was the first time it said Devens would be closed.”

The State of Massachusetts wants answers. The Boston Globe reporting continues in Auditor to look at Evergreen incentives. “State Auditor Suzanne Bump intends to review public subsidies for Evergreen Solar, the energy company that recently announced plans to shutter its Devens plant and move more 800 jobs elsewhere despite receiving millions of dollars in public funds, as part of a broader review of the state’s entire system of tax incentives.”Will the Obama administration seek the same in the Solyndra episode?

Ms. Skorup concludes,

“Those favoring these energy subsidies may disagree, believing that sending taxpayer money to politically connected select companies is actually a “jobs creator.” Disregarding the mountains of evidence that government is notoriously bad at picking economic winners, just looking at these two solar companies should show that this is a bad argument: The companies combined to employ about 1,500 people at the time of their bankruptcies (a few hundred for Evergreen Solar and 1,100 for Solyndra). On top of the federal funds, Evergreen Solar received $58.6 million from the state of Massachusetts and millions more from Michigan sources, while Solyndra got $535 million in federal aid and more from California. This is, in the words of my colleague Michael LaFaive, an expensive game creating the illusion of jobs.”

What is the lesson from these two defunct ventures? Mixing public subsidies as a source of venture capital is obscene. Allowing green industry swindlers involvement in writing the rules for the government programs guarantees that only the insiders will benefit. Accepting campaign contributions from slick promoters that seek government funding for their projects is out right criminal. The blame game between the two political parties of the same tree begs the real issue. The parasitic diseases that infect the party political system is like a heart rot. Heart rot in living trees is caused by fungi which have the ability to decay wood. These fungi gain entrance to the wood of the tree through wounds, branch stubs, etc., which expose the bare wood. The fruiting bodies, mushrooms or “conks,” are common on trunks of decaying trees.

The Enron culture underpins the “Green” corporate cronyism that wastes public money, drives up the cost of energy and perverts the entire political process. Industrial Wind and the Wall Street Cap and Trade Fraud is the step elder sister of the Solyndra and Evergreen Solar failures. Scam rackets between corporate/government partnerships breed new generations into the corrupt system of heart rot. The financial fungi are spreading because the parasites are using public monies to pay for high price lawyers, so their Solyndra clients can take the Fifth!

As long as “Green” subsidies exist, the sun will not shine on the tree of life, in a country of climate prostitutes.

Goldberg vs. Mearsheimer

Professor John Mearsheimer is subject to a Zionist-trans-Atlantic-attack for supporting my latest book .

Earlier this year John Mearsheimer, the highly respected international relations theorist and Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago, wrote the following preliminary front matter for my book:

‘Gilad Atzmon has written a fascinating and provocative book on Jewish identity in the modern world. He shows how assimilation and liberalism are making it increasingly difficult for Jews in the Diaspora to maintain a powerful sense of their ‘Jewishness.’ Panicked Jewish leaders, he argues, have turned to Zionism (blind loyalty to Israel) and scaremongering (the threat of another Holocaust) to keep the tribe united and distinct from the surrounding goyim. As Atzmon’s own case demonstrates, this strategy is not working and is causing many Jews great anguish. The Wandering Who? should be widely read by Jews and non-Jews alike.’

It seems as if the Zio-cons on both sides of the pond are now in a state of panic — In an obviously orchestrated attack, the  Zionist mouthpiece  The Jewish Chronicle of London,  the Islamophobic Award winning  ‘Harry’s Place’ and the ex-Israeli concentration camp guardJeffrey Goldberg* , all launched a typical Hasbara smear & intimidation  campaign, in which they labeled both Professor Mearsheimer and myself anti Semites. I was also called a ‘neo Nazi’, a ‘Hitler apologist,’ a ‘Holocaust denier’ and a ‘hatemonger’.

To be honest, it is somewhat amusing that an ex concentration camp guard like Goldberg should label me a ‘Hitler apologist’ or a  ‘Holocaust denier’: after all, since Goldberg is an ardent pro-war Zionist who openly and enthusiastically supports a Jews-only, racist, expansionist state, it is clear that he is actually the one who is an advocate of a distinctly Nazi-like ideology and practice.

In addition, I learned from Goldberg that Adam Holland (yet another notorious Zionist zealot), also cannot quite believe that Professor’ Mearsheimer would endorse my book.

Adam Holland wrote:  “I had trouble believing that a distinguished professor at one of the world’s greatest universities would link himself to a hatemonger like Atzmon. So I sent Professor Mearsheimer an email quoting the blurb and asking him to verify its accuracy.  I also gave him an opportunity to amend it or add to it.  Here’s what he ( Mearsheimer) wrote back:

“The blurb below is the one I wrote for ‘The Wandering who’ and I have no reason to amend it or embellish it, as it accurately reflects my view of the book.” John J. Mearsheimer

What is clear to the rest of us is that our Zionist detractors are fighting a lost battle. I really wonder what they hope to achieve: after all, those who have taken the time to actually read my work know very well that there is no hatred, no anti Semitism, and no racism in my entire body of work. Instead, I believe that truth is a dynamic process — I believe in the power of reason and in free debate.

If Jeffrey Goldberg has any dignity left at all, then he should start again — He should apologise to Professor Mearsheimer, myself, the Palestinians, and to humanity.  He would do better to also try to present an argument, and if he actually has anything to say, he would be best advised to then learn how to argue and encounter in debate.

Immigration’s Onslaught: Fracturing America

In this series, I am attempting to show you what an added 75 million immigrants will do to this civilization as to culture, environment, quality of life and standard of living.  You can already see it with the latest news that 46.2 million Americans live below the poverty line.  The figure of 43 million Americans living on food stamps should sicken most Americans, but it doesn’t.  We keep importing millions of immigrants, some 33 million every decade.

I am hoping that enough Americans understand this predicament and that we all pull together to reduce all immigration to less than 100,000 annually.  Join www.NumbersUSA.org to stop the madness.   Otherwise, it will continue as our Congress will not stop mass immigration until we force their hand by our sheer numbers.  We will add that 75 million immigrants by 2035—a scant 24 years from now.  We’re already into that number by 12 million.

In conjunction with this column, Newsweek ran a piece in its September 26, 2011 editor, titled “Marry or else!” This article shows how US and UK Muslims are forcing marriages of their teen girls outside the law. They also report the “honor killings” when the girls do not obey their parents to marry guys 20 years and more older than the girls.  Islam is a non-thought religion with barbaric rituals such as female genital mutilation discussed in this commentary.

Today, California sloshes nostril-deep in its 38 million population overload.  It grows by 1,700 people daily!  Do the math!  By 2050, if this immigration-driven population phenomenon continues, California explodes to 79.1 million people. If you think Los Angeles’ smog, traffic, water and power shortages create problems today, hold on to your girdle because you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

In Dr. Otis Graham’s book, Unguarded Gates: A History of America’s Immigration Crisis, he writes, “Most Western elites continue urging the wealthy West not to stem the migrant tide, but to absorb our global brothers and sisters until their horrid ordeal has been endured and shared by all—ten billion humans packed onto an ecologically devastated planet.”

In literary terms, it’s called ‘hubris’ or false pride.  Many of Shakespeare’s protagonists suffered this self-destructive trait.  In the Bush years and now the Obama years, their cabinets and Congress epitomized ‘hubris’ through their incompetent, if not arrogant actions.

How completely unconscious were members of the U.S. Senate when they attempted to pass S.B. 1639 in 2007?  It jumped current legal immigration from 1.2 million annually to 2.4 million.  That’s like seeing a child with his clothes on fire running out of a burning building, but instead of spraying him with water, the firemen spray gasoline on the child.  In this case, the current president and Congress pour more gasoline onto the fire by adding millions of immigrants into our country.   Note that Obama voted to give amnesty to 20 million illegal migrants and double annual legal immigration.

Scant rational thought or logical actions go into what our leaders force into this nation via immigration.

What are some of the results?  Out of the next 100 million added to America, 75 million will be immigrants.  When we add that many people from foreign countries to the United States in three decades—we gang-tackle our civilization by adding incompatible cultures, religions and languages.  We cripple our educational system.  We overload our infrastructure.  We demean citizenship.  Assimilation cannot occur.  We fracture our identity.  For a simple example: France burned in December 2005 when immigrants firebombed 10,000 cars, burned houses, killed French citizens and caused three weeks of mayhem.

With the child on fire illustration, what burns in this country?  For starters, we scorch the foundation of our society by destroying our most precious bond—our English language.  Without a single language, we shall cease to continue as a cohesive civilization.

Samuel Huntington wrote the best seller: Who Are We?  He stated, “By 2001 Congress appropriated $446 million for bilingual programs, supplemented by huge amounts of state funding.”  Ironically, so many legal and illegal immigrants find they don’t have to speak English because none of their friends speak it.  Koreans, Vietnamese, Hmongs, Middle Easterners, Russians and dozens of other immigrants cannot speak English and will not invest in becoming Americans.

Thus, these new immigrants live in America, but they cannot speak, and do not think like Americans.  What’s more, they could care less.  No investment!  They enclave themselves into separate groups.  Los Angeles stands as a polyglot of seething anti-American bias by Mexicans and their children.  One look at Detroit’s growing Muslim population portends what happened to Paris, France, London England and Amsterdam, Holland, i.e., complete separation from the host country by new immigrants.

When you add millions of immigrants that cannot speak our national language, they emotionally, physically and intellectually separate.  A nation cannot long survive when its citizens cannot communicate with one another.

As we spin ourselves into massive population overload from third world countries, the labor pool generates millions of unskilled bodies that depress wages.  Dr. Vernon Briggs of Cornell University said, “Efforts in the United States to reduce the incidence of poverty have been hampered, since 1965, by the parallel revival from out of the nation’s distant past of the phenomenon of mass immigration.

“Unless comprehensive immigration reforms are added to the arsenal of anti-poverty policies, efforts to reduce poverty in the country in the twenty-first century will be little more than a ride on a squirrel wheel—a lot of effort expended but little progress achieved.”

As these people avalanche onto our shores, can’t speak English and possess few skills, they and we fragment faster than a grenade.  They succumb to a profound racism and distrust against their host country.

“Immigrants devoted to their own cultures and religions are not influenced by the secular politically correct façade that dominates academia, news-media, entertainment, education, religious and political thinking today,” said James Walsh, former Associate General Counsel of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. “They claim the right not to assimilate, and the day is coming when the question will be how can the United States regulate the defiantly unassimilated cultures, religions and mores of foreign lands?  Such immigrants say their traditions trump the U.S. legal system.  Balkanization of the United States has begun.”

For example, Muslims practice female genital mutilation (FGM).  It’s 6^th century Dark Ages barbarism alive in the 21^st century.  It occurs today in Detroit, Michigan, Freemont, California and Denver, Colorado, and wherever Islam grows in America.  Nine years ago, hundreds of cases of little girls suffering from infected genitalia, after being slashed with razors and glass, landed in Colorado hospitals from the FGM ritual.  Islamic practitioners, without sterile room technique or anesthesia, cut out the labia majora and minora as well as the clitoris of girls, usually less than nine years of age.

Led by Colorado House Representative Dorothy Rupert, lawmakers passed a new law to halt it.  The practice didn’t stop; it torpedoed underground.  What happens when Muslim culture becomes the majority and votes it into legal practice?  What happens when Mexican culture citizens vote horse tripping, cock fighting, bull fighting, Santeria (animal sacrifice already occurring in Florida) and dog fighting into law?  What other inhumane practices do other cultures import into America?

Have you seen a country devolve?  In the Middle East today, Muslims stone women to death for adultery.  They won’t allow women to drive.  Women cannot go out in public without a male relative at their side.  They demand separate swimming pool times for men and women.  They make women hide their faces with a burka into “non-beingness.”  They practice Sharia Law which proves harsh and diametrically opposed to parliamentary law.

Don’t think it can happen in America?  Fox News, July 25, 2008 reported a Muslim honor killing in Garrett, Texas when a 12 year old girl called 911, screaming, “My dad shot me; I am dying.”  She died before an ambulance arrived. Reason: father didn’t like her wearing western jeans and blouses.

In Clayton County, Georgia, July 10, 2008, a Pakistani immigrant father, Chaudry Rashid strangled his daughter for not accepting his choice of a husband.  She wanted a divorce.  She was 14 when she died.

In New York, February 16, 2009, FOX News, Joshua Rhett Miller reported, “The estranged wife of a Muslim television executive feared for her life after filing for divorce last month from her abusive husband,” her attorney said — and was found beheaded Thursday in his upstate New York television studio.  Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37, was found dead on Thursday at the offices of Bridges TV in Orchard Park, N.Y., near Buffalo.  Her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, has reportedly been charged with second-degree murder. “She was very much aware of the potential ramification of her filing for divorce might have,” said attorney Elizabeth DiPirro, whose law firm represented Aasiya Hassan in the divorce proceeding. “But she wanted to proceed despite the potential for it to erupt.”

Under Sharia Law in the Middle East, such an ‘honor killing’ remains accepted in Islamic society.   Ann Curry on NBC hosted a news piece, “Honor Killings in America.”  She reported on the astounding rise of honor killings in America by Muslim immigrants.

How far do we want to regress into that arcane religiosity in America?  One look at the sectarian violence by the Sunnis, Kurds and Shiites in Iraq should give you pause for concern.  One look at the unending violence between Israel and Palestine should give you a clue as to our fate.  If you didn’t grasp what happened in Paris, France, you will experience it when it erupts here.

As to the ‘lifeboat’ metaphor for America, how many people does it take to sink a lifeboat?  Short answer: the last one to come aboard that overwhelms the craft’s ability to remain afloat.  When you look around, countries like China, Congo, India, Mexico, Bangladesh, Darfur, Sudan, Somalia and dozens of others already exceed lifeboat capacity.

That brings us, fellow Americans and global citizens, to the yet unresolved decision regarding adding 100 million more people to the United States by 2035.  As we degrade our ability to maintain our civilization by adding disparate cultures, languages and the least educated and poorest of the planet, we reduce ourselves to the same kind of conditions they fled.  At the same time, not one, single core problem has been solved in their countries.  We import their dilemmas into our frayed society.

If you become emotional about this, that won’t solve their problems or ours.  Bring your greatest sympathy to their plight, but it won’t change the fact of carrying capacity limits in our civilization.  Even if you send food through church group outreach programs, this exacerbates the problem because that food allows third world people to multiply their numbers—causing greater starvation down the road.   “More population growth leads to more demand for food,” said author of Peak Everything, Richard Heinberg. “We are describing a classic self-reinforcing feedback loop.”

Such a paradigm proves increasingly lethal.  Another 100 million people careens our country into the same consequences as their countries.

In October of 2011, the 7th billion human being will land on this planet.  From that threshold, humans will continue multiplying by 1.0 billion every 13 years to reach more than 10 billion within 39 years at the mid century.  The ramifications stagger the mind of any thinking American.  This series will give you an idea of what our civilization faces.

In the early years of the 21^st century, the United States continues on a course toward adding another 100 million people by 2035. With accelerating symptoms exploding across America and the world via water and food shortages, species extinction rates, energy crises, climate destabilization, ocean dead zones and more ramifications on multiple levels—we find ourselves passengers within a civilization that parallels the metaphor of the Titanic.  If you remember, on April 14, 1912, the RMS Titanic, the finest steamship of its era, on its maiden voyage, sped too fast and arrogantly through iceberg infested waters of the North Atlantic.  It hit one and sank—to become one of the greatest tragedies that didn’t have to happen in the 20^th century.

Our own grave overpopulation crisis need not manifest within the United States, either, if we change course.   Like Captain Edward John Smith of the Titanic, he could have slowed down or steamed further south to avoid his fate.

The United States could also change course and avoid adding 100 million people within the next 25 years.  However, no American leaders step up to the microphone with any concern.  The passengers of our American civilization continue ‘trusting’ their leaders similarly to the passengers on the Titanic.  “Captain Smith knows what he is doing,” they said.  “Our U.S. Congress and president must know what they are doing,” citizens lament.

But like Titanic’s Captain Smith, the U.S. Congress and president of the United States—don’t know what they are doing.

UNENDING POPULATION GROWTH ON A FINITE PLANET CANNOT CONTINUE

In “Matters of Conscience”, January 2010, www.centerforpublicconscience.org , by Bromwell Ault, “Ours is a world of extreme and imminent danger.  It crackles with messages of political, economic and religious conflict and, when tensions build and words fail, as they often do, violence is visited by one group upon another. If that were not enough, our planet shudders from spasms with changes in technology, population, wealth distribution and our natural environment.”

You may notice newspapers, environmental magazines like Sierra Club and National Public Radio addressing growing ‘symptoms’ brought about by overpopulation. But, you will never hear them connect the dots as to hyper-population growth.  In fact, they avoid any mention of their ‘sacred cow’ of our world filled with too many people.  Obviously, religious, political and racial ramifications enter into the passions of this issue.

In the 16^th century, men like Galileo found themselves under house arrest via the Catholic Church, because they ‘bucked’ the conventional wisdom with their research. They called him a “heretic.”   Ultimately, the Pope lost because Galileo proved that the earth revolved around the sun.  Today, if anyone speaks up against mass immigration into the United Kingdom, France, Holland, Canada or the United States—the term “racist” echoes from every quarter.

Ironically, those immigrants flee overpopulated countries where average annual death rates from starvation and related diseases exceed 18 million people. (Source: World Health Organization) Worse, third world countries add 77 million people net gain annually to our finite planet.  Thus, they form an endless line of desperate refugees.  In the end, Mother Nature doesn’t care about anyone’s race, creed or color—she’s an equal opportunity grim reaper for anyone that exceeds carrying capacity.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND WHAT CAN BE DONE?

The late oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau said, “We must alert and organize the world’s people to pressure world leaders to take specific steps to solve the two root causes of our environmental crises—exploding population growth and wasteful consumption of irreplaceable resources.  Over consumption and overpopulation underlie every environmental problem we face today.”

Devolving America Into Parallel Societies

Nobody really wants to speak about it, let alone write about our pending ordeal: we are turning America into parallel societies.  That condition stampedes toward us faster than anyone understands or comprehends. Once it is completed, we will all become victims.

T. R. Kelly said, “I still believe that the radical transformation of the U.S. through our immigration policy is the primary driving force behind this chaos, conflict, and division that probably will continue for the rest of this century.   The 1965 Immigration policy is an assault, conquest, and destruction of the founding nation and the Republic—meant to turn us into this multi-racial, multi-lingual, multi-cultural, and multi-nation country.”

In other words, the United States of America finds itself being turned into a polyglot of societies with no national allegiance or identity. It’s moving at breakneck speed as the U.S. Congress imports 3.1 million legal and illegal immigrants annually along with their 900,000 births each year—on course to add 72-75 million immigrants by 2035—a scant 24 years from now. You may remember the famous speech that Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm gave at the Federation for American Immigration Reform in October 2003:

“Here is how they destroyed their countries,” Lamm said. “First, turn America into a bilingual or multi lingual and bicultural country.  History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures.  It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual.  The historical scholar Seymour Lipset put it this way, “The histories of bilingual and bicultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension and tragedy.  Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, Lebanon—all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons and Corsicans.”

Today, France can no longer claim to be French.  Great Britain can no longer enjoy being British.  The same goes for Norway, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, Canada and Australia.

Via their massive immigration policies, they have created parallel societies.  No Frenchman dares or chooses to venture into the 70 “no go” zones dominated by Muslim immigrants around Paris.

London, England also features the Muslim Zone and the British Zone.  Again, the British will not go into the “no go” Muslim Zone in London.  It’s not safe.

None will write or speak about it, but 95 percent of the rapes in Norway and Sweden are committed by Muslim immigrants.  My brother Rex has lived in Bergen, Norway for the past 25 years and he sent me those figures from a recent news report.  Of course, the Muslim imams immediately called the reports “racist and bigoted.”   Anyone who has watched honor killings to the tune of 5,000 Muslim women per year are killed by their husbands or brothers—understands the ordeal women suffer in Muslim lands.  Women possess few basic rights within Islam.  Where Sharia law dominates, women do not have any rights to education, free speech, voting, driving, walking outside or wearing clothing of their choice.  Muslim men prove brutally abusive.

Each year, America breaks down its basic cohesive fabric by importing millions of immigrants that cannot inculcate nor adapt to Western free-thought, education and loyalty to the American way of life.

We face, as a civilization, four competing tribes that struggle for dominance in this agitated “salad bowl” called multiculturalism.   The black-white issue has plagued America from the beginning.  Racism has never been conquered by education, the Great Society or any programs to erase it.  America lives with un-ease and separation wherever possible.  Yes, blacks and whites play professional sports together, but everybody goes home to separate communities—for the most part.

As the demonstrations in Georgia over the weekend showed, 10,000 illegal immigrants showed their muscle in Atlanta by demonstrating that they will not tolerate law and order or legal citizenship. While they are illegal, their numbers are so great, they intend to take a stand against the U.S. Constitution and all American citizens.   The Mexican/Hispanic separation will grow as their numbers will grow. Mexicans will become the dominate tribe by 2050. (Source: David Muir ABC News, June 26, 2011)  You can already witness the parallel societies developed in places like Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Chicago.  If you’re a Caucasian American, try to walk down those streets and feel welcomed.

Examples of parallel societies show themselves in America from our being forced to; “Press ‘1’ for Spanish and ‘2’ for English” on all commercial telephone answering services.  Expect Arabic next.

The growing Muslim tribe may prove the most destructive of America’s loss of itself.   No country in Europe has maintained itself or its culture and language in the face of the Islamic onslaught.  Muslims don’t assimilate, learn the language or move seamlessly into the host country.  They separate as well as force their customs and language onto the host country.  Ironically, they out-birth host countries and begin to dominate by population numbers.

In America today, we see honor killings of wives and daughters. (Source: Ann Curry, NBC News, “Honor killings in America”) We see “no go” zones in Detroit, Michigan.  We see female genital mutilation of immigrant girls.  We see arranged marriages.  We see 1,208 new mosques built within 20 years in America.

Finally, we see parallel societies developing as to illiteracy within the immigrant ranks.  For example, Detroit, Michigan features a 76 percent dropout/flunkout rate from its immigrant dominated high schools. (Source: Brian Williams, NBC News, June 2009) Welfare dominates that 83 percent minority dominated city as to assisted housing, food stamps, free breakfasts and lunches, and free medical care paid for by you.  Such situations show that 42 million people in America suffer functional illiteracy—they cannot read, write or perform simple math equations.  America tolerates a growing parallel society of literates versus illiterates.  Illiterates depend on welfare and our growing socialistic government.

Lamm continued on how to destroy America, “Invent ‘multiculturalism’ and encourage immigrants to maintain their own culture. I would make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal. That there are no cultural differences!  I would make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.”

$12 Billion For Them; 1.5 Million Homeless For Us

Does anyone possess a clue as to why our U.S. government spends $12 billion every 30 days in Afghanistan and Iraq while 1.5 million of our citizens remain homeless and 13.4 million American children live in poverty?

“There are 770,000 homeless children enrolled in public education systems,” said a spokesperson at Homeless Support Network. www.homelessus.org

“On any given night there are 100,000 homeless veterans,” said the spokesperson at Homeless Support Network. “At least 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness each year.”

What doesn’t add up here? Answer: just about everything!

Our government has forced those two bogus wars upon our soldiers with terrible death and injury tolls for the past 10 years. Is it possible that they are not winning on purpose or that they can’t win because these wars are unwinnable? Does that make sense? Does it show rational thinking on the part of the military to urge President Obama to continue military operations in those two sandbox, backward and poverty stricken countries? If we can’t win in Afghanistan in 10 years in a country that doesn’t have a single tank, war plane or radar unit—what’s the point?

How can the government force taxpayers to pay $12 billion for two inane wars every month while millions of our citizens live in poverty?

With millions suffering in America, wouldn’t it make more sense to spend $12 billion a month on our own people? Wouldn’t it make sense to pull them out of poverty by offering jobs, workfare, housing, education and job training?

Exactly what is being accomplished in Iraq and Afghanistan? Answer: absolutely friggin’ nothing!

Bin Laden died several months ago. Muslim terrorists can train in a dozen other countries besides Afghanistan. Let’s face it; Muslims terrorists train inside the United States at this moment—thanks to our idiot Congress importing 100,000 Muslim immigrants annually. Ask the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Germany and Denmark about their rapes, bombings, cultural disruption, honor killings and female genital mutilation results with Muslim immigrants.

How could that $12 billion spent on war be used to aid 13.4 million American children? Answer: schools, supplies, food, clothing, tutors and support! The latest news reports show that less than 18 percent of our students know the identity of President Abraham Lincoln. They do not know the three branches of government. They don’t know their own senators from their states. But they can “sex-text” while they’re driving 70 miles per hour down the expressway!

Key points on homelessness:

It’s caused because people cannot procure a job of any kind. They can’t earn money. They cannot support themselves.

• The nation’s homeless population increased by approximately 20,000 people from 2008 to 2009 (3 percent increase). There were also increased numbers of people experiencing homelessness in each of the subpopulations examined in this report: families, individuals, chronic, unsheltered.
• A majority – 31 of 50 states and the District of Columbia – had increases in their homeless counts. The largest increase was in Louisiana, where the homeless population doubled.
• Among subpopulations, the largest percentage increase was in the number of family households, which increased by over 3,200 households (4 percent increase). Also, the number of persons in families increased by more than 6,000 people (3 percent increase). In Mississippi, the number of people in homeless families increased by 260 percent.
• After population reductions from 2005 to 2008, the number of chronically homeless people in the country remained stagnant from 2008 to 2009, despite an 11 percent increase in the number of permanent supportive housing units.
• Nearly 4 in 10 were living on the street, in a car, or in another place not intended for human habitation. In Wisconsin, twice as many people experienced homelessness without shelter in 2009 as did in 2008.
• Could it be that we need to offer jobs to 14 million Americans rather than keep China’s people working as they sell us everything we buy from “Free trade” agreements brought to us by our U.S. Congress?

My point is this: we suffer enough problems in our own country to fill Lake Superior. But we ignore them to battle camel jockeys and goat herders in two countries 10,000 miles away. We suffer 14 million unemployed and 43 million subsisting on food stamps while we blast away and march over two backward countries that don’t want us there in the first place. We create more terrorists than we are killing.

I am sick of the irrational actions of 535 Congress critters and a lame-duck president. I am sick of our government continuing ridiculous actions that benefit no one and cause much harm in the world. I am sick of Weiner-gate, Arnold-gate, Clinton-gate, Lee-gate, Edwards-gate, Spitzer-gate and the next scandal that rises out of the pond scum in Washington DC.

Is there any chance our government would or could function with rational thought, a clear plan and logical actions toward solving our problems here in America?

I won’t hold my breath.

Impregnating America with Islam, Sharia Law and Confrontation

“The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, or preventing all possibility of its continuing as a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities and languages.” President Teddy Roosevelt

Of all the unwise and foolish things our U.S. Congress has imposed on the American people in the past 40 years, the late Teddy Kennedy’s 1965 Immigration Reform Act will prove the most dangerous piece of legislation for the continuance of the United States.

While George Washington enjoys the moniker as “Father of our country”, Kennedy may become known as the “Father of the destruction of our country.”

Not only did his bill ram an added 100 million immigrants into the United States in the past 40 years, it will cram another 100 million into this country by 2035—a scant 24 years from now.

Beyond the environmental overload as to ecological footprint, carbon footprint, water, energy and resources—we face another more ominous and deadly overload of incompatible cultures and religions. The wise philosopher Kant said, “Religion and language are the two great dividers.”

While benign religions like Buddhism settle into any civilization without antagonisms, the fastest growing religion in the world aggressively moves from its third world roots into first world countries with astounding speed. It has ransacked Europe’s tranquility. In France, police, firemen and citizens will not enter 750 “no go” zones now dominated by Muslims.

Islam advocates for barbaric martyrdom with suicide bombers, female genital mutilation, arranged marriages, female subjugation, honor killings at over 5,000 annually inside the Middle East, stonings, beheadings, acid throwing into women’s faces and no rights for women.

While it doesn’t advocate aggressively within a Western country at first, as its numbers grow, it demands more and more impregnation of Sharia Law. That law creates an entirely new economic, social and religious paradigm inside the host country. Muslims do not remain timid for long!

In 1990, less than 100,000 Muslims lived within the United States. In 2011, they boast over seven million. At 100,000 Muslims added to the USA annually, they will add one million every decade. But with their birthrates, they can expect to add five million Muslims within 20 to 30 years. At present, they have built 1,208 mosques across the USA. No women can walk inside the front doors. They must go to the side. No women can share worship with any men. No women can walk into a mosque with their faces showing.

As seen in the United Kingdom, with a scant 2.5 million, they are already instituting Sharia Law by forcing democratic law out of Islamic dominated areas of London.

In an oped at Investers.com, they published a piece “Beheading ourselves over Islam.”

“What can the U.S. do to quell the violent spasms of Islam? Promote Islam, naturally. At least that’s the thinking of this administration. It’s now official foreign policy,” opined Investers. “President Obama’s top Muslim envoy has been overseas encouraging devotion to Islam, including in terror hot spots like Afghanistan. In fact, Rashad Hussain, U.S. special envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference, just returned from Afghanistan, where he told locals the antidote to Islamic violence “is Islam itself.”

“I am of the opinion that one of the strongest tools that you can use to counter radicalization and violent extremism is Islam itself, because Islam rejects violent extremism,” Hussain said during a speech in Kabul.

“Afghans responded to his message by slaughtering a dozen innocent United Nations workers in the name of Islam,” wrote Investers. “Stirred by mosque sermons, a mob of thousands overran a U.N. compound in northern Afghanistan following Friday prayers. They sawed off the heads of two guards before killing the others, including Norwegian and Swedish nationals, inside. It was Afghanistan’s deadliest attack on U.N. personnel. The worshippers also burned American flags and effigies of Obama all to defend the honor of a single, paperback copy of a Quran torched by a quack U.S. preacher thousands of miles away in Florida. So far, more than 20 have died in the rioting.”

Islamic law is absolute

“Islamic law calls for vengeance against anybody who insults Islam, its prophet or its holy book. Islamic law is enshrined in the post-Taliban Afghan constitution. Yet Rashad, a devout Muslim, says the Muslim faith is “key” to the administration’s strategy to turn Muslims away from violence,” reported Investers.

“We see that as one of the key elements of a strategy to address this type of violence,” he said. By “we,” he means the Obama administration. So it’s now official policy to try to douse the Islamic fire of jihad by pouring more fuel on it. This is breathtaking.

“It found that Islam was catalyzing terrorists abroad and inside America’s Muslim community. And it scolded U.S. leaders for pretending otherwise. Still, Hussain insists: “When it comes to the problem of violent extremism, Islam is not the problem.”

If Americans expect to survive the 21st century with this nation intact, we need to shut down all Muslim immigration into this country. Any person can see that Islam has done to France, UK, Norway, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Austria and Spain.

Do we want the constant confrontation of competing ethnic tribes, especially when America’s dominate white/black/Hispanic tribes do not possess the kind of religious zeal of Islam? Do we want to see our democratic laws degraded into Sharia Law? Do we want to see women’s rights flushed down the toilet? Do we want to see free speech and thought shut down? Do we want to see our free society morphed into a dictatorial society run by Islam that features its first tenet as: “Convert or kill all non-believers.” Koran

So far, as we immigrate millions of Muslims into America, we are choosing to lose America by our inaction, inability or apathy to speak up.

As Thomas Jefferson once said, “We have the wolf by the ears and we can neither hold him or let him go.” I suggest we take destiny into our hands by taking action.

The Brit PM’s Limp-wristed Attack on Multiculturalism

A sad testimonial as to the effete state of Western culture is that even ineffectual, feminized defenses of it are applauded as brave.  Case in point: British Prime Minister David Cameron has made news by giving a speech in which he said that “state multiculturalism” has failed.  And while he earned three spots on Drudge and a “hear, hear!” from mainstream conservatives, the truth is that whether or not his words are too late, they are certainly too little.

They’re also just words.

Let’s start by saying that Cameron, like all Western leaders, is a creature of the age who is either unwilling or unable to address the real problem: immigration itself.  For it is not just multiculturalism that has failed but also the importation of multiple unassimilable cultures.

The reality is that it isn’t borders, mountains, rivers, trees, rocks or animals that make a nation, but people.  Australia, the US, Canada and Taiwan only became those nations because of the migration of Europeans to the first three and Chinese to the last; they were far different when occupied by only Indians or aborigines (as to this, you can ask the Indians and aborigines about the effects of immigration).  Likewise, as I wrote in 2007, “[R]eplace our population with a Mexican or Moslem one and you no longer have a Western civilization, you no longer have America.  You have Mexico North or Iran West.”

The above was quoted a day later in Congress by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), who said that I had “inveighed” against immigration.  And I inveigh against it still.  As I also wrote in the 2007 piece:

Do you want to know why we have Moslem prayers broadcast five times daily in Hamtramck, Michigan; Moslem foot baths installed in the Kansas City Airport; “Islamic Immersion” classes in a California school district; Moslems who are planning jihad against us on our own shores; and Moslems who demand an Arabic public school in NYC and Moslem dormitories at colleges?  Legal immigration.  Why do we have illegal immigrants brazen enough to protest in the streets and demand the rights of citizens?  Legal immigration.  Why do you have to press buttons to conduct business in the language of the land and why are government documents printed in foreign ones?  Legal immigration.  Why have we seen Mexicans in our streets burning our flag and wielding signs stating “Gringo Go Home”?  Legal immigration.

Modern immigration regimes are causing similar problems in all Western countries, whether Holland, Denmark, France, Sweden or Canada – or Britain.  As for the UK, as the Muslim population continues to grow, its culture will become more Islamized, no matter what is done within the confines of democratic British politics.  This is Cultural Reality 101.

People such as Congressman Conyers dismiss such concerns; they liken the immigration of today to that of yesteryear and claim that since the latter posed no problems (not really true), the former won’t, either.  But they ignore the most significant difference between the two: Yesterday’s immigrants – no matter their tongue – generally had a Judeo-Christian foundation.  Those in question here have an Islamic one.

This may seem like small potatoes to secularists such as Conyers and Cameron, but this is because they lack depth.  They don’t understand that man does not live on bread alone.  The deepest realm is the philosophical/spiritual, and, as an ancient Chinese saying goes, “It is easier to change the height of a mountain or the flow of a river than the nature of a man.”  It’s nice to talk, as Cameron has done, about how Muslim immigrants must embrace British values.  But what if those values happen to contradict the Sharia sense of virtue?  It is completely unrealistic to think that newcomers will shed what lies at the core of their being because they have changed location.  And it’s especially fruitless to ask people to replace their conception of virtue with your mere “values.”  And, yes, the difference between the two is profound.

As to this, what are British “values”?  White wigs in court and tea time?  Monty Python?  Before you get offended, know that I could ask like questions about all our dying Western cultures.  Once we lost our faith and became post-Christian, we lost our soul.  We hollowed ourselves out.  Sure, we can talk about “human rights,” but we have in reality – as Barack Obama has in speeches – removed the basis for those rights: the Creator.  Thus, even if Muslims as a group could be shaken from Sharia (which they cannot), we’d be asking them to trade a civilization about something for a civilization about nothing.  Good luck with that.  Man does not live on plum pudding alone.

By the way, Cameron himself has recognized the current unattractiveness of British culture, writing in this piece:

[T]he third step in promoting integration is to ensure there’s something worth integrating into.  “To make men love their country”, said Edmund Burke, “their country ought to be lovable”.  …Here the picture is bleak: family breakdown, drugs, crime and incivility are part of the normal experience of modern Britain.  Many British Asians see a society that hardly inspires them to integrate.  …it is mainstream Britain which needs to integrate more with the British Asian way of life, not the other way around.

Unfortunately, Cameron doesn’t know how to make his country lovable.  It is not by supporting more immigration, as he does.  Moreover, this “conservative” prime minister speaks of how we need a “muscular liberalism” when what we need is for liberalism to atrophy.  For the British-Asian virtues he extols (e.g., faith and family) were always Western virtues – until the secular, statist cultural traitors destroyed them.  We need to understand that liberalism is what evil is masquerading as in our time.  And until it’s viewed in the same light as Nazism, all is for naught.

Of course, within the context of the usual politically correct Western commentary, Cameron’s statements are a big improvement.  But, again, it just illustrates how low we’ve sunk.  Sure, maybe he knows a bit better.  Perhaps, understanding that “Politics is the art of the possible,” he’s just pushing the envelope as far as expediency allows.  At the end of the day, though, Cameron’s approach is much as if Charles Martel had taken nothing but lawyers, self-help books and treaties to the Battle of Tours.

America: Locked and Loaded – Guns, Speech and Madness

Last week, while heading a ‘Congress on your Corner’ meeting in a parking lot in Tucson, Arizona, House member Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) suffered a head-shot from a deranged 22 year old youth named Jared Loughner. In total, the gun-toting walking insane-asylum killed six and wounded 13 people.

A bright light of energy, intellect and personality in the House of Representatives, Ms. Giffords struggles for her life in an Arizona hospital. Loughner sits in a jail cell with the demons swirling in his head.

Media pundits scream from the tops of their lungs for gun control, more police and better social interaction.
But wait, let’s examine America’s current obsession with violence, killing and murder:

The majority of Americans support(ed) two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan for the past 10 years with deaths in excess of 1 million Iraqis and Afghanistans, 2.5 million refugees, plutonium loaded bombs that create birth defects for decades and countless bodily carnage for the hundreds of thousands of wounded:

“Even with the lower confirmed figures, by the end of 2006, an average of 5,000 Iraqis had been killed every month by US forces since the beginning of the occupation. However, the rate of fatalities in 2006 was twice as high as the overall average, meaning that the American average in 2006 was well over 10,000 per month, or over 300 Iraqis every day. In other words, Americans condone mass killing on an unimaginable scale. They don’t question it while their tax dollars support the oxymoron of “War against Terror.” Americans lack even the slightest clue as to the mayhem and suffering they caused all those families from all that death. They supported 2.2 million Vietnamese deaths in our 10 year Vietnam war while only 58,300 of their kids returned home in coffins. After 1975, another 175,000 combat troops committed suicide when they returned home to falter against their own demons. War scrambles a man’s mind. Yet, this society continues to operate as if war must continue in cycles, i.e., Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraq. No doubt, our politicians and generals will contrive another war at some point in the future.

Thus, today in America, we condone and encourage incredible violence. If you visit any packed video arcade at any mall in America, you will see our youth shooting, stomping, murdering, slashing and killing endless numbers of human beings on the video screen. A visit to the cinema in the same malls depicts half of all movies featuring gratuitous killing.

Those same kids return home to video games on their own computers like “Doom” and “Zombies killing spree” where they see peoples’ heads chopped off among other atrocities. By the time they finish with murdering and mayhem on their computers, they click on their televisions with “CSI: Miami”; “CSI: Los Angeles”; “CSI: New York” ; “Detroit 187” ; “Law and Order” ; “Criminal Minds” ; “Vampire Diaries” and many other shows featuring diabolical violence.

Any doubts that a percentage of those youth will turn into cold blooded murderers?

In the January 24, 2011 Time Magazine, Michael Grunwald wrote a piece, “Fire Away!” Every year in America, 31,224 Americans die from guns. Police intervention, assaults, murderers and suicides account for 100,000 Americans being shot annually. A mind-numbing 17,352 Americans shoot themselves to death annually. Eight children die from gun violence every day in America. A whopping 86 people die from gun violence 24/7!

Where cities grow more compact, tempers grow more irritated, people shoot each other with uncommon consistency.
If they don’t shoot each other, they drink themselves into a stupor before jumping into a 4,000 pound missile and drive down the highway to kill another 26,000 people (1982 figures) annually , now down to 13,000 people in 2009, with the biggest bullet in America: a car! Millions drive drunk everyday in America!

If we can’t secure a gun, we use a knife! In 2008, even as gun killings fell, the number of killings committed with knives or other “cutting instruments” rose 50 percent in New York City. Thousands of Americans kill others with knives annually.
Let’s face it; as we compact ourselves more and more into cities and urban areas, we face accelerating human densities not normal for the human animal.

“Tell me what you will of the benefactions of city civilization, of the sweet security of the streets—all as part of the natural upgrowth of man towards the high destiny we hear so much of. I know that our bodies were made to thrive only in pure air, and the scenes in which pure air is found. If the death exhalations that brood the broad towns in which we so fondly compact ourselves were made visible, we should flee as from a plague. All are more or less sick; there is not a perfectly sane man in all of San Francisco.” John Muir 1874

As we allow more “parenting” by television violence, mall viciousness-video arcades, movie brutalities and aggression within homes from angry parents—a growing percentage of our citizens cannot help but express themselves with the violence template that we condone.

What can we do to obviate such U.S. atrocities as Tucson, Columbine, Texas University, University of Virginia, Oklahoma, Unabomber, ad infinitum?

1. Stop killing people in ‘enemy’ countries by withdrawing from Iraq and Afghanistan. Leave their civilizations to their people to solve their problems by their cultures and choices. After 10 years, more ‘war’ is not the answer! This would bring a measure of peace to the world ‘mind’ and human race.

2. Take the $12 billion monthly war bill and inject it into America’s school systems to foster education and better mental health assessments. Discover at-risk children at an early age for remediation and support to families. (As a retired math/science teacher, I know the value of student/teacher ratios.)

3. Better to build a healthy young man or woman than try to repair a broken one like Loughner or Lindsey Lohan or any of our tortured military with PTSD.

4. Normalize cities by moving toward “stabilized population policies.” We cannot keep up with our youth in our overpopulated and overwhelmed city schools where violence, isolation and frustration become the norm.

5. We must question, debate and move toward emotionally healthier television. I grew up on “Father Knows Best” ; “My Three Sons” ; “Leave it to Beaver”; “Captain Kangaroo” ; “Mr. Rogers” ; “The Muppets” . Offer intriguing shows that entertain by stretching the mind and imagination.

6. Provide high school students with mandatory family, relationship, child rearing, compatibility and means courses to move them toward a positive future with children.

Finally, what have you done to stop the Iraq and Afghanistan wars? Answer: nothing, right?! That’s why they continue 10 years later! This Republican form of government is not a spectator sport. You provide the vital ingredient to make it work. Why does violence continue on such a horrific and prolific level in the USA? Answer: we apathetically set the paradigm and we reap the obvious results. Your convictions without action equals nothing but horrific entertainment.

Milton Friedman’s ‘Capitalism and the Jews’ Revisited

Given the severity and uncertainty of the economic crisis we are all experiencing, I suggest we look once more at the work of Milton Friedman, the leading economist and a staunch advocate of hard capitalism.

During the 1960s -80s Friedman was regarded by many academics, politicians and world leaders as the most important post- World War Two economist. Friedman was chief economic advisor to Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher and Menachem Begin. He also went on record advising the Chilean military dictator Augusto Pinochet.

It is far from surprising to note that more and more commentators have realised in recent years that it was Friedman’s ideology and advocacy of free enterprise, zero governmental intervention and privatisation that has led to the current financial turmoil. It was Milton Friedman’s philosophy that also contributed to the transformation of the West into a service economy.

But Friedman wasn’t just an economist: he was also a devout Zionist and a very proud Jew. Friedman was interested in the role of the Jews in world finance and politics. He also attempted to analyse and understand the attitude of Jews towards wealth. In 1972 Friedman spoke to The Mont Pelerin Society about  “Capitalism and the Jews”. In 1978 he repeated the same talk, addressing  Jewish students at the Chicago University’s Hillel institute.

I’d suggest that Friedman deserves our immediate attention, since he contributed to the rise of an ideology and school of thought that bears some responsibility for the rearrangement (some might say dismantling ) of  the West’s economy.

The Jewish Paradox

Friedman was, no doubt, a sharp intellect, and could offer sharp and succinct criticism. Yet, Friedman was not entirely ‘a cosmopolitan’ in every sense of that word, since he was deeply involved in Jewish concerns and Zionist affairs, and he was deliberately open and transparent about being so.

In the talks he gave in 1972 and 1978, Friedman examined a unique Jewish paradox :  “Here are two propositions,” he said. “Each of them are validated by evidence yet they are both incompatible  one with the other.”

The first proposition is that “there are few peoples if any in the world who owe so great a debt to free enterprise and competitive capitalism as the Jews.“

The second proposition is that  “there are few peoples or any in the world who have done so much to undermine the intellectual foundation of capitalism as the Jews.”

How do we reconcile these two contradictory propositions?

As one may gather by now, Friedman, the free enterprise advocate, was clearly convinced that monopoly and government intervention were bad news in general; but, more crucially for him, they were also very bad for the Jews.

“Wherever there is a monopoly, whether it be private or governmental, there is room for the application of arbitrary criteria in the selection of the beneficiaries of the monopoly—whether these criteria be color of skin, religion, national origin or what not. Where there is free competition, only performance counts.”

Friedman, clearly prefers competition. According to him  “the market is color blind. No one who goes to the market to buy bread knows or cares whether the wheat was grown by a Jew, Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, or atheist; by whites or blacks.”

Friedman’s elaborates further: “Any miller who wishes to express his personal prejudices by buying only from preferred groups is at a competitive disadvantage, since he is keeping himself from buying from the cheapest source. He can express his prejudice, but he will have to do so at his own expense, accepting a lower monetary income than he could otherwise earn.”

“Jews” Friedman continues,  “have flourished most in those countries in which competitive capitalism had the greatest scope: Holland in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and Britain and the U.S. in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Germany in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.”

According to Friedman, it is also no accident that Jews suffered the most in Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia, for these countries clearly defied free market ideology.

One may suggest at this point, that though it is undoubtedly true that Jews suffered in Soviet Russia and in Nazi Germany, and though it is also true that these countries defied free market ideology — Friedman fails to establish a causal or even rational relationship between the opposition to the free market, and anti Jewish policies.

However, the message Friedman conveys is clear — Jews do benefit from hard capitalism and competitive markets.

Yet, Friedman is also genuinely intrigued by Jewish intellectuals’ affinity with anti-Capitalism : “Jews have been a stronghold of anti-capitalist sentiment. From Karl Marx through Leon Trotsky to Herbert Marcuse, a sizable fraction of the revolutionary anti-capitalist literature has been authored by Jews.”

How could that be, Friedman wonders? Why is it that, despite the historical record of the benefits of competitive capitalism to the Jews; despite the intellectual explanation of this phenomenon that is implicit or explicit in much liberal literature from at least Adam Smith onwards, the Jews have been disproportionately anti-capitalist?

Friedman considers some answers —

Rather often we hear from Jews on the left that their affinity to humanitarian issues is driven by their ‘Jewish humanist heritage’. More than once I myself have commented that this is an utter lie. There is no such a Jewish heritage. Driven by tribal precepts, both Judaism and ‘Jewish ideology’ are devoid of universal ethics. If there are some remote patches of humanism in Jewish culture, these are certainly far from being universal.

Friedman, however, offered a further take on the subject: In direct reference to Lawrence Fuchs who argues that the anti-capitalism of the Jews is a “direct reflection of values derived from the Jewish religion and culture,” Friedman wonders — if Jewish culture is, indeed, inherently anti capitalist  (as Fuchs suggests) how is it then, that Jews failed to successfully combat Capitalism and free markets throughout their history?  Friedman analyses that whilst “Jewish religion and culture date back over two millennia; the Jewish opposition to capitalism and attachment to socialism, is at the most, less than two centuries.”

Being a sharp intellect then, Friedman managed to dismantle  Fuchs’s argument. He managed to counter the argument that Jewish culture is inherently socialist or humanist. If Judaism is, indeed, inherently and innately bound to such ethics, how is it that this humanism failed to become dominant throughout Jewish history?

Friedman also reflects in a surprisingly respectful manner, on the writing of alleged anti Semite Werner Sombart’s The Jews and Modern Capitalism. Sombart identifies Jewish ideology at the heart of capitalism. “Throughout the centuries, the Jews championed the cause of individual liberty in economic activity against the dominating view of the time. The individual was not to be hampered by regulations of any sort. I think that the Jewish religion has the same leading ideas as capitalism . . . “(1)

Though Jewish intellectuals at the time were largely unhappy with Sombart’s book, Milton Friedman is brave enough to admit that there is nothing in  Sombart’s book itself to justify any charge of anti-Semitism (though, he argues,  there certainly is in Sombart’s later work).  Friedman, a proud capitalist, tends actually to interpret Sombart’s book as “philo-Semitic”.

“If, like me”, says Friedman, “you regard competitive capitalism as the economic system that is most favorable to individual freedom, to creative accomplishments in technology and the arts, and to the widest possible opportunities for the ordinary man, then you will regard Sombart’s assignment to the Jews of a key role in the development of capitalism as high praise. You will, as I do, regard his book as philo-Semitic. “

Milton Friedman may even agree with early Marx, that Capitalism is Jewish ‘by nature’. Yet, while Marx believed that in order for the world to liberate itself from Capitalism  it had better emancipate itself from the Jews (3), for Friedman capitalism is of profound value and to be respected, and Jews should be praised for their inherent bond with this philosophy and its diverse ramifications. As far as Friedman is concerned, for Capitalism to prevail, Jews should continue to do what they are good at: and that is to trade freely in an open and competitive market.

Friedman seems to dismiss the presumed  ‘intellectual honesty’ behind Jewish affiliation with the left and anti capitalism: He tends to argue that the Jewish intellectual inclination towards the left is a direct outcome of some political and historical circumstances, rather than ethical or ideological choice. He explains that, in his view, Jewish affiliation with the left is the product of a particular occurrence in Europe in the nineteenth century.

“Beginning with the era of the French revolution, the European political spectrum became divided into a “Left” and a “Right” along an axis that involved the issue of secularism. The Right (conservative, Monarchical, “clerical”) maintained that there must be a place for the church in the public order; the left (democratic, liberal, radical) held that there can be no Church at all . . . .”

It was only natural, then, for the Jews to join the left — in fact Jews could only join the left.

“The axis separating left from right also formed a natural boundary for the pale of Jewish political participation. It was the left, with its new secular concept of citizenship, that had accomplished the Emancipation, and it was only the left that could see a place for the Jews in public life.”

Such a reasoning, then, views Jewish affiliation with the left as a politically opportunistic move instead of a form of ‘moral awakening’.

Such a reading of the ‘Jewish left’ reaffirms my own critical assessment. It also explains why some Jews join the left — they support cosmopolitanism, solidarity, an international working class; and yet, they themselves  often seem to prefer to operate within  ‘Jews only’ racially orientated  cells such as the Bund,  Jewish Socialists or even Jews For Boycott of Israeli Goods. Friedman’s  reasoning might also explain why so many Jews who had their roots in the so- called ‘left’,  ended up preaching moral interventionism and Neo Conservatism.(4)

Friedman argues also, that Jewish affiliation with the left might be better understood as an attempt to disown some anti Semitic stereotypes of the Jew as being  “a merchant or moneylender who put commercial interests ahead of human values.”

According to Friedman, the Jewish anti capitalist is there to prove that, far from being money-grabbing, selfish and heartless, Jews are really public spirited, generous, and concerned with ideals rather than material goods. “How better to do so than to attack the market with its reliance on monetary values and impersonal transactions and to glorify the political process, to take as an ideal a state run by well-meaning people for the benefit of their fellow men?”

And yet, in Friedman’s logic then, it is not a ‘moral awakening’ that moves the Jew to the left; it is neither humanism, nor solidarity and nor is it kindness, but, instead, it seems to be a desperate attempt to replace or amend the Jewish image.

Surprisingly enough, I find myself in total agreement with Friedman, though I would phrase it differently. I do differentiate between ‘the leftist who happen to be Jewish’- an innocent category inspired by humanism,  and ‘the Jewish leftist- which seems to me to be a contradiction in terms, for the left aims to universally transcends itself beyond ethnicity, religion or race.  Clearly ‘Jewish left’ is there to maintain a Jewish tribal ethno-centric identity at the heart of working class philosophy. ‘Jewish left’ is there to primarily serve Jewish interests

I noticed that Richard Kuper, the European Jewish activist behind the recent Jewish Boat to Gaza, was quoted as saying  that their  goal was to show that “not all Jews support Israeli policies toward Palestinians.”

It seems to me that the message Kuper conveyed was pretty clear: Rather than being driven entirely by a genuine care for the Palestinians in Gaza, the Jewish boat was also engaged in a symbolic exchange.  It was also there to save the image of the Jews rather than solely providing humanitarian support. This fact alone may explain why the Jewish boat hardly carried any humanitarian aid for the Gazans. Rather than a ‘humanitarian aid mission for the Palestinians,’  it was probably also an ‘image rescue for the Jews’.

Seemingly then, Friedman managed to resolve the paradox between his two initial propositions (Jews being the benefactors capitalism vs. Jews being profoundly anti-capitalist) by offering an historical and political explanation: Jews or Jewish intellectuals are not really against capitalism; it was just the “special circumstances of nineteenth-century that drove Jews to the left, and the subconscious attempts by Jews to demonstrate to themselves and the world the fallacy of the anti-Semitic stereotype.” It was neither ideology nor ethics.

This interpretation explains why left Zionism was doomed to disappear. During his talks, Friedman reviewed the right/left political division in Israel. He noticed that two opposing traditions were at work in the Jewish State: “an ancient one–going back nearly two thousand years– of finding ways around governmental restrictions (and) a modern one– going back a century– of belief in “democratic socialism” and “central planning.”  Friedman was clever enough to gather already in 1972 that it is the “Jewish tradition”, rather than ‘socialism’, that would prevail. Friedman noticed already in the 1970’s that Israel was capitalist to the bone. He predicted that the short phase of Zionist ‘pseudo socialism’ was foreign to Jewish culture.

Yet. It isn’t just Israeli left that was doomed to die. Friedman’s reading of Jewish culture also explains why the Bund (5) died; it didn’t really spread to the West; it also explains why the legendary Mazpen and other Jewish tribal anti Zionist revolutionary groups have never attracted the Jewish masses.

Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

Friedman is not free of fault. In spite of his succinct reading of the Jewish left/right divide there are a few crucial points that have to be made about Friedman’s reading of Jewish culture, and his reading of capitalism.

Friedman argues that the free market and competition is good for the Jews. Yet he is also adamant that Government intervention is a disaster that leads to anti Semitism and other forms of institutional bigotry. If Friedman’s model is valid, then Jews in the West had better brace themselves, for Western Governments are currently intervening in the markets  in a desperate attempt to slowdown the inevitable collapse of what is left of our economy and relative wealth.

If Friedman’s model is correct, and intervention is indeed bad for the Jews, then anti Jewish bigotry could be immanent, especially considering the gigantic bailout  intervention schemes put up  by states in an attempt to save what remains of the Western economy.

But it goes further — it is also plainly clear that the bailout schemes are there to amend a colossal disaster caused by the endorsement of Friedman’s own ideology. We are all paying a very heavy price for free enterprise, hard capitalism, or, in general, the ideologies Friedman was so enthusiastic about.

There is something  Friedman didn’t tell his listeners in  the 1970s — He himself probably did not realise the full meaning of his economic model. He himself did not realise that the adoption of his philosophy by Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher would eventually bring the West to its knees.  He himself did not realise that it was his own advocacy of hard capitalism that would lead Western continents to poverty and deprivation. He perhaps did not realise back in the 1970s that it was his model that would eventually eliminate productivity, and every positive aspect of the welfare state. Milton Friedman did not realise at the time that service economy that suited some ethnic minorities for two millennia wouldn’t necessarily be a successful model once adopted into a macro model. As Friedman had gathered, throughout their history Jews and other ethnic minorities were very effective operating as service economy within competitive and productive markets. However, Jews and other ethnic or religious  minorities did well  because others were there to work around them. The transforming of the West into a service economy driven by relentless greed, a process that followed Friedman’s economic precepts, is now proving to be a disaster. It means poverty and global depression. It is translated into alienation from labour and productivity.

Friedman may have been correct when he predicted that governmental intervention may lead to anti Semitism — yet, he probably failed to realise that it was largely his own intellectual  heritage that would be responsible for the current financial disaster. It is in fact his own economic model and  prophecy that could also introduce Jews to far more suffering.

Immigrants centuries behind in the USA

Five years ago, I pedaled my fully-loaded expedition touring mountain bicycle through Europe. My friends and I pedaled from 700 miles north of the Arctic Circle, Norway into Denmark, Holland, France, Austria and into Germany—on our way into the Swiss Alps. We headed south toward Italy with a final destination of Athens, Greece. Our mileage exceeded 3,500 miles.
Not bad for a journalist so near age 60 he felt a kindred spirit with thousands of the gray-haired brigade also traveling on bicycle throughout Europe. It’s not uncommon seeing 80 year old women pedaling bicycles in towns one thousand years old. I traveled where feudalism, kings and armies sprinkled history books with the dynamics and violence of centuries past.

In June of 2005, I pedaled over stunning mountain passes through Viking dominated Norway and its grand fjords, salmon fish farms, reindeer, fierce pride and isolation. Even awoke to the cuckoo bird’s haunting, “Cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo” each morning! Denmark turned into flat land with farms and towns as neat and perfect as Disneyland. Instead of windmills grinding grain, Danes featured huge white monster 150 feet tall 30 foot, three bladed electronic generating wind machines everywhere across their landscape. A short hop through Holland and France gave us a look at their countries and why they voted down the European Union and embarrassed Chirac and Dutch leaders. Sure shot a thorn into the One World order crowd. Seems like people love their countries—and like to keep them—their countries! Humanity is clan-like in nature and that will not change. Much like the myth of Marxism, you cannot succeed against human nature.

We pedaled through Germany up the Rhine River past one thousand year old castles and vineyards. If you think I sweated rivulets down my spine and splashed drops from my chin onto my top tube—you would be correct. Once I reached Lake Bodensee, the Swiss Alps loomed in front of me.

But that’s not what I’m here to write about. I’m interviewed dozens of Europeans on their take of illegal immigration invading their countries. In the past weeks, British citizens suffered four bombings in Liverpool–killing a lot of people. Great Britain is scared to death because it suffers two million unassimilated Muslims that threaten the foundation of British society. It’s insidious, pernicious, pervasive and creating monstrous consequences.

Norway’s ruling elite, bamboozled by multiculturalism’s farcical insanity and their own isolation from the reality of its growing consequences—import Third World immigrants from Africa, minorities from Kosovo and other war torn countries. Their leaders refuse examination of skyrocketing rapes, murders, female genital mutilation and drug gangs in Bergen, Tronheim and Oslo. Once they dump the immigrants, now exceeding 400,000 on their hapless four million Norwegian citizens—they scoff at anyone bringing valid complaints. The immigrants ride welfare like a new art form. They bring zero work skills, education and even less academic ability.

One Norwegian said, “These immigrants are centuries behind our society. They can’t and won’t speak our language. They are not assimilating. Rather, they are antagonistic as they flood our welfare system with babies and needs while doing nothing to earn their keep. It’s a free-for-all coming out of our pockets.”

Gunnar further said, “If we speak up, our own leaders call us racists. Why the government wants this growing crime, drugs, crazy religions and tension in Norway is beyond me.”

As I passed villages in Norway, I saw those immigrants hanging around the refugee centers where they resembled freshly plowed up mice in fields of thorns light years removed from their own countries. It was not only a problem for Norwegians, but placed people used to heat and sun into a country where ice, rain and snow along with six months of darkness are the norm. Talk about a boondoggle of incompatibility for Norway and the immigrants!

Amsterdam was no longer Holland. It has immigrated so many people from the Middle East and Africa that the immigrants will outnumber the Dutch within decades. Immigrants don’t and won’t speak Dutch. It’s so bad that many leaders have been threatened by Muslims after the Theo Van Gogh killing.

The Dutch closed their borders and are deporting immigrants. But it may be too late for them. One teacher said, “We’re headed for civil war within five years and it will be the immigrants against us.”

Southern France is now known as Northern Nigeria. Over five million Muslims own Southern France. They are not French, don’t speak French, and don’t respect France as French. They bring France new and unwanted problems as to women’s rights, aggressive and violent religion and the loss of the French language as the immigrants out-propagate the French. Speculation shows France becoming France-Arabia within this century. They will either lose their country and language, or wall off southern France to the immigrants to save themselves.

Germany suffers from Turks arriving in an unending line as well as Africans. After WWII, no one would help Germany. Europeans wouldn’t work or trade with them. Germans invited Turkish immigrants who suffered Third World poverty. They came but were not forced to return. They stayed. But they did not become Germans. They are tolerated at best.

However, since Germany is afraid of being called racist or against anything the Third World, because of their war-like history—they helplessly watch their country being overrun.

“Immigrants multiply faster than us,” one man said from Weingarten south of Stuttgart said. “They do not respect our rituals or standards. We are being overwhelmed. They are not conquering us with the sword, but the penis.”

What is the greater threat? For one thing, Germany suffers dwindling space. It is a land mass about half the size of Texas, yet it must feed and house 82 million people. One man, Uwe said, “There is no place in Germany to be by yourself.”

Farmland dominates where forests once grew. Every available space grows food. One fact about Third World people is their adherence to rituals and traditions—even in the face of critical consequences. At the current immigration driven growth, Germany’s population explodes past and exceeds its carrying capacity. That’s why a home costs a prohibitive fortune in Germany and most people live in cramped apartments. Gas exceeds $8.00 a gallon. The Germans and their immigrants will face the same consequences facing Bangladesh which houses a population of 157 million people in a land mass the size of Ohio.

Are Bangladesh’s people miserable? They set the benchmark for human misery and despair. Chinese, at 1.3 billion and growing by 8 million annually, net gain, suffer compaction more than any American can imagine. India is just plain miserably poor with over 1.1 billion and growing by 12 million annually.

Will Germany face the same fate? How about France, Denmark and Holland?

As hard as I pedaled my bike, I couldn’t drive this point home enough: The fact is the Third World grows by 80 million desperately poor people annually so there is no end to the line. The sobering reality is America accepts 3.1 million people a year—more than all other nations combined.

Instead of solving the population crisis at the core in those countries—all First World countries adding immigrants create the same crisis—given enough time—in their own countries.

Who is at fault? For starters, the Catholic, Islam and Protestant churches throughout the world adhere to 2000 year old doctrines that dwell in the past with paradigms that fail present realities. They cling to the past to the detriment of their own followers. They advocate unlimited birthrates. Secondly, leaders suffer fear from those religious power houses so much so; they won’t take necessary actions to step into the realities of the 21st century. Third, capitalists equal the equally archaic mantra of ‘growth, growth, growth’ at any cost so a few become wealthy while the masses suffer. The fact is we’re tearing this planet up. Fourth, politicians egocentrically won’t see or look beyond the nose on their faces. Instead of looking toward a viable future, they pander to the capricious present. Finally a gullible and ‘in denial’ public in Europe and America allow themselves to be led like sheep to the slaughter.

No one on either side of the Atlantic addresses the myriad of accelerating consequences brought about by immigration.

What are you doing? What will your children do if you continue your silence? Ask anyone in Bangladesh if they would have liked their parents to take a different path toward a sustainable population? Forget it, most in that miserable country can’t read or write and half die before age five from starvation or starvation related diseases. They are too weak to answer your questions.

Up ahead, I face the Swiss Alps and enormous, gut busting climbs. My legs strain under the load of my heavily laden mountain bike. However, I succeed one pedal stroke at a time. We’re all in this together. Let’s get busy working to get our borders shut down and forcing this president to serve Americans and our citizens instead of foreign interests and foreign populations crashing our into our country. The one fact remains that in any given crisis you must save yourself first before you can save others. In my next column, I will talk about ‘Money, Power and Critical Mass’ and how Americans can change this nation-destroying dilemma of immigration.

Interview with Erri De Luca

Erri De Luca is an internationally-renowned Italian poet and writer. “Corriere della Sera” literature critic Giorgio De Rienzo has called him “the writer of the decade”. He started writing since he was 20; however, his first book was published in 1989, when he was 39 years old. Upon graduating from high school in 1968, he joined the newly-established far-left, extra-parliamentary organization of Lotta Continua. The political activities of the organization were terminated early in 1976. Erri De Luca speaks several languages, including English, French, Hebrew and Yiddish.

He is the author of several books including “Montedidio” which has won him The Prix Femina award. Erri De Luca has translated several books of Bible into Italian, including Exodus, Jonah, Ecclesiastes and Ruth. His works have been translated and published in various countries such as Spain, Iran, Portugal, Germany, Holland, USA, Brazil, Poland, Norway, Danmark, Romania, Greece and Lithuania.

De Luca joined me in an exclusive interview and answered my questions on his works and his views on literature, culture, politics and society.

Kourosh Ziabari: What made you interested in literature for the first time? You published your first novel when you were 39; however, you had experienced various professions and jobs before that. You experienced carpentry, masonry and apprenticeship and then moved to writing. What were the first motives which moved you towards literature?

Erri De Luca: I owe my approach to my father’s library. I spent my childhood in a small room with books to the ceiling, I slept surrounded by books. I’ve been reading and writing since I was a kid, books have been the best company. I published my first book late because I wasn’t looking for a publisher. I wrote and write personal stories, always with me telling the story and I thought these would never interest anybody else.

KZ: Our world is filled with materialistic approaches to life. Morality is losing its place in the interpersonal relationships. People disregard the principles of honesty and decency very easily. Is this world compatible with the ideal world which you have portrayed for yourself?

EDL: I’m used to sit at table for lunch where one eats the fruit of one’s work. At these tables, which are the majority on the planet, my principles are not ideals but daily practice.

KZ: Naples is the prominent setting of your novel. Its people speak a variety of Italian language which is even unintelligible to a number of Italians. What’s the significance of Naples for you? How do you seek your desires and ambitions in this ancient city?

EDL: Naples is my place of origin and  Napolitan my mother tongue. Italian came later, with books and conversations with my father, who wanted to teach me perfect Italian. In Naples, I had my sentimental education – not to love, but to the sentiments of compassion, anger and shame which are the fundaments of any human being. Naples is not a birth town, but it is a “cause town” and I am one of its effects.

KZ: You speak several languages including French, English, Hebrew and Yiddish. How is the sense of being a multilingual writer? Jock London believes that every book is a gateway to a new world. Do you agree that every language is also a gateway to a new world? With several languages which you know, do you usually feel that you live in different worlds?

EDL: I learnt languages to read them rather than to speak them. My desire was to follow the authors of pages which touched me in their vocabulary and their combination of syllables. Thus I find a personal extract, a glass [of wine] and I go directly to the source. The world which attracts me is that of an author rather than of a people. That’s why I’m not interested in geographically visiting countries whose language I know. I can read in Russian out of love for its poets and writers but I have no desire to find myself in Odessa or Moscow. With the languages I have learnt I have no need to move from where I am.

KZ: Some people believe that the Iranians and Italians are very similar to each other. They say that among the European citizens, Italians are the most similar to Iranians. This similarity can be found in the appearance, social interactions, character and dispositions. Have you ever noticed any similarity between the people of Italy with the oriental nations?

EDL: I find common ground with all people with feet in the Mediterranean Sea. I recognize all trees, goats, dry walls and wrinkled faces. For thousands of years we have mixed, via invasions, immigration, epidemics, wars. Iran and the East are a key premise of our civilization, the first layer, the first seed of our bread.

KZ: Iran and Italy are home to two of the most important ancient civilizations in the world; Persian Empire and Roman Empire. Although the political developments have separated the two countries, how can the cultural ties serve to bring the two nations together and benefit them mutually?

EDL: Iran is the most important country in world politics today. Iranians must know that their decisions with respect to pacific development will be decisive for the next decade. Iran is today, even more than in the past, on the front lines of history. Everything that happens in your country will affect the four corners of the horizon [the rest of the world]

KZ: An Iranian critic of your novel has said that the bitter comedy of your novel “Montedidio” is inspired by Italo Calvino. What do you think about it? Has Calvino ever inspired you in your writings?

EDL: I am not a reader fascinated by Calvino or by 20th century Italian literature in general. I know I owe much to Napolitan literature, its theater, its songs, and to other foreign litteratures which educated me in my youth thanks to my father’s choices and tastes.

KZ: In your short story “The Trench”, you’ve tried to show the difficulty of earning a living and portrayed the complexities a low-ranking laborer faces in dealing with a low-rate job. In one part of your story, the protagonist states: “why in the world should a human being have to earn bread for his children with a noose around his neck? For me it was a question of pride, but for him it was only bread, and still he had to soak it in that salty water of ours, which tasted so much like tears.” I think it’s the essence of your story. What’s your own idea? Why is our life intertwined with difficulties and complexities so inextricably?

EDL: I write stories of my life and the one you bring up is simply a tale of a slice of experience on a construction site in France. Nothing to add, maybe something to take out. My life shares with the majority of other lifes, anonymous and normal. The fact that I am able to write stories does not change that biographic fact. I am someone from the ground floor and my stories are the same.

KZ: Have you ever had the ambition of winning the Nobel Prize in Literature? What do you think about this award? Has it been always awarded to those who deserved it?

EDL: Often, the Academy has rewarded names unknown to me and I was able to discover them thanks to these choices. So I enjoy their literary tastes, most of the time. For my part, I don’t think that I am under consideration for the Academy.

KZ: Dario Fo was the last Italian writer to win a Nobel Prize in Literature. What do you think of him and his works?

EDL: Dario Fo is an international personality, one of the few Italian personas appreciated worldwide, and he deserves the honor conferred by the prize.

KZ: How much time do you dedicate to studying the world’s literature? How many books do you read in a year? Do you have a special criterion for the geographical distribution of the writers of whom you read novels and literary works? How much time do you spend on reading Italian literature?

EDL: During the day, the time to read and write is squeezed in a small space. I read old works, poetry from all over the world and I don’t follow Italian literature.

KZ: Are you among those thinkers who believe that artistic work is solely produced for the sake of pleasure, or the art itself? What’s the ultimate objective of art? Is it aimed at entertaining the addressee? Is it aimed at creating cosmetic beauty? Which sort of literature do you prefer; a literary work which is created for pleasure or a literary work which is admired for its moral points?

EDL: Literature is for me the best dialogue. I prefer it to any other art form. It should keep its reader company, save him time, be worth the time spent with a book. Literature’s sole responsibility is to create desire to reopen the book. In difficult circumstances, under dictatorships, it can also have the responsibility to save speech. In jail, a book is a fortune and a huger capital for resistance.

KZ: And my final question. What’s your recommendation for those who want to become professional readers of literature? What are the best ways for comprehending the essence of a literary work, whether it’s in the form of poetry or prose? How can a good reader relate to the core of what the writer intends to convey?

EDL: A book is always half of the trip from a writer and a reader, who must complete the work by mixing it with his/her life, moods and needs. A book is a meeting, with no utilization guide, and thus always different, failure or success. Every book is ultimately led by its reader, linked to his/her experience, friendly to his/her human adventure to enrich it. No formula and no advice – “have a nice ride reader” is what I tell myself when I open a page and begin to read.

Multiculturalism Utter Failure Across Europe: Growing Tension

This past week, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said, “Our attempt to have ethnic groups and religions live side by side and enjoy each other has failed, utterly failed.”

Surveys show 30 percent of Germans believe the country is overrun by foreigners. An equal number believe the foreigners come to feed off German welfare. The same figures grow in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Holland, France, Norway, Sweden and Austria.

Merkel noted that the Muslim Turks, that arrived as “gastarbeiters” or guest workers, in the 50s and 60s, grew to 2.5 million in Germany. Arabs and East Europeans arrived later. Surveys place the Muslim population at five million.

“Multikulti is dead,” says Horst Seehofer of Merkel’s sister party, the Christian Social Union of Bavaria. He dreads further immigration of “alien cultures.”  Aliens fail to learn the German language and do not assimilate to become Germans.

9/11 A BIG PARTY BASH FOR GERMAN MUSLIMS

Pundit Patrick Buchanan said, “Awareness of deep differences with Turkish neighbors became acute for Germans when, grieving in solidarity with America after 9/11, they learned that Turkish sectors of Berlin were celebrating Islam’s victory with barrages of bottle rockets. Like all of Europe, Germany grows nervous.

“This summer, Thilo Sarrazin, who sat on the Bundesbank board, published “Germany Abolishes Itself,” which sold 300,000 copies in seven weeks. Sarrazin argued that Germany’s Muslim population is intellectually inferior and unable or unwilling to learn the language or culture, and mass immigration is destroying the nation.”

Buchanan, author of Death of the West, said that mass immigration from third world countries to first world countries destroys western culture and values. He said, “Across Europe, there is a resurgence of ethno-nationalism that is feeding the ranks of populist and anti-immigrant parties that are gaining respectability and reaching for power. Austrian nationalists triumphed in 2008 when the Freedom Party of Joerg Haider and the Alliance for the “Future of Austria” together took 29 percent of the vote. The Swiss People’s Party of Christoph Blocher, largest in Bern, was behind the successful referendum to change the constitution to outlaw minarets and prohibit the wearing of burqas.

“Hungary’s Jobbik Party, which to the Financial Times “sits squarely in Europe’s most repulsive arch-nationalist tradition and which blames Jews and Roma for the hardships of other Hungarians,” pulled 17 percent of the vote this year and entered parliament with 47 seats, up from zero seats in 2006.”

Additionally, “The Sweden Democrats just captured 6 percent of the vote and entered parliament for the first time with 20 seats, joining right-wing folk parties in Norway and Denmark.”

Another anti-immigration voice in Holland, Geert Wilders, a rising figure in Dutch politics, stands trial today for expressing his freedom of speech rights, but suffered charges of hate speech for equating Islam and Nazism.

“More security, less crime, less immigration, less Islam — that is what the Netherlands has chosen,” said Wilders.

Buchanan said, “In France, President Nicolas Sarkozy — one eye on Jean-Marie Le Pen’s National Front, the other on the 2012 elections — rejecting cries of “Nazism” and “Vichyism,” is dismantling Gypsy camps and deporting Gypsies to Romania. Milan is now following the French lead. What is happening in Europe partakes of a global trend. Multiracial, multi-ethnic, multicultural nations are disintegrating.

Former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm spoke about it in his speech on October 3, 2004 in Washington, DC, “How to Destroy America.”

Lamm said, “Here is how they destroyed their countries: First, turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bicultural country.  History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures.  It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual.  The historical scholar Seymour Lipset put it this way, “The histories of bilingual and bicultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension and tragedy.  Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, Lebanon—all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons and Corsicans.”

Buchanan said, “Russians battle ethnic Muslim separatists in the North Caucasus. Seventy percent of Americans support an Arizona law to identify and expel illegal aliens. Beijing swamps the homelands of Tibetans and Uighurs with Han Chinese. India fights secession in Kashmir, Nagaland and the Naxalite provinces.”

“Wars between nations have given way to wars within nations,” said Barack Obama in his Nobel Prize address.

Germany’s condition may prove unsolvable.  At 1.4 birth rate, it’s running out of native people while Muslims reproduce at an average in Europe of 8.1 children per female.

As one Muslim said, “We won’t have to use bombs or violence; we will out populate them as Allah wishes.”

What happens when Diversity replaces America’s Language and Culture

For the past 30 years, somebody, somewhere, or a group of people in high places decided to destroy the successful equation of “melting pot” within America. That ‘entity’ decided to pitch diversity and multiculturalism as the new monikers dismantling English as America’s common language. “It” decided to inject hundreds of incompatible cultures and languages into America while adding another 100 million people to stress the environment even further.

That same “It” worked its magic in France, Great Britain, Holland, Norway, France, Belgium and other countries—with devastating results: fragmenting, balkanizing and separated societies.

Like a group of chemistry students in a classroom where the teacher leaves for an emergency phone call—for kicks or giggles—the students start tossing multiple chemicals into a test tube to see what happens. Result: the mixture either melts the tube down or explodes. No one knows what kind of volatility may occur.

Today, our once “stable and sustainable” population suffered growth from a reasonable 194 million people in 1963 to a unsustainable 309 million in 2010. While we continue ‘celebrating’ our amazingly ‘diverse’ society with immigrants from over 150 countries, speaking 100 languages—in reality, the wheels fall off the ‘romantic’ pitch by newspapers such as the Denver Post and television networks across the USA. You will hear “racist confrontations” in dozens of media outlets weekly.

On the educational side, Brian Williams reported a 76 percent dropout/flunkout rate in Detroit, Michigan schools last spring. Why? They feature 50 different languages and unending diversity. Everyone speaks a slew of languages except English, they don’t know Thomas Jefferson, promote their own cultures and they call themselves hyphenated-Americans. But hundreds of schools throughout the USA in major cities like LA, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Miami, Denver and others suffer 50 to 60 percent dropout/flunkout rates. Denver vacillates between 52 to 67 percent dropout/flunkout rates. Brian Williams added, “About 1.2 million teens hit the streets every spring unable to read or write.”

What happens when this country finds itself without a common language, culture and national identity? What happens when enough immigrants do not, cannot or will not integrate into American society? What happens when their cultures and languages trump America’s culture and English language? Today, 42 million Americans cannot read or write. Another 50 million read at the fourth grade level. Name the one term that defines third world societies: illiteracy. America degrades with every illiterate citizen.

You can see it accelerating in Islamic Detroit, Michigan. Already, we hear calls for Sharia Law. For Americans that don’t understand Sharia—its runs counter to everything in Western law. It subjugates women, commits barbaric acts such as female genital mutilation and calls for honor killings of women for minor infractions. Mexican reconquista operates in the Southwest and children continue to fare poorly in schools after several generations because of their ‘poverty culture’ roots in Mexico. In Arizona last week, immigrants painted the American flag with Nazi swastikas and stomped on it at the capital in Phoenix.

Other examples:

In New York, February 16, 2009, FOX News, Joshua Rhett Miller reported, “The estranged wife of a Muslim television executive feared for her life after filing for divorce last month from her abusive husband,” her attorney said — and was found beheaded Thursday in his upstate New York television studio. Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37, was found dead on Thursday at the offices of Bridges TV in Orchard Park, N.Y., near Buffalo. Her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, has reportedly been charged with second-degree murder.

Adam Gadahn: The California-born Muslim convert assists Shukrijumah and Osama bin Laden as al-Qaida’s chief propagandist. He tailors the group’s message to American Muslims. In 2006, Gadahn invoked U.S. Muslims to attack military bases. Three years later, U.S. Army Major Hasan shot 43, killing 13 at Fort Hood.

Anwar Awlaki: Articulate and media savvy, the American-born cleric is al-Qaida’s top recruiter of Western suicide cells. Awlaki has recruited or radicalized countless homegrown terrorists, including the Fort Hood shooter and the Times Square bomber, both English-speaking citizens. Authorities also believe he ordered the Christmas airliner attack. Thought to be bin Laden’s heir, Awlaki has called on American Muslims to turn against their government, “Jihad against America is binding on every other (American) Muslim,” he said.

For Americans that cherish the successful “melting pot” concept, at what point do they lose control of their culture, language and way of life—in favor of a polyglot of incompatible cultures, religions and languages?

At what point will all those countries ‘exhausting’ their excess population into America—take responsibility for their own fecundity and their own citizens—in their own countries?

At what point will Americans stand up for being Americans? On every level—unrelenting and accelerating immigration cannot be sustained environmentally, educationally, linguistically or culturally—if America hopes to survive the 21st century.

Latest figures show the USA adding 70 million immigrants within 25 years. Can we remain sustainable? Ask anyone in Bangladesh, Mexico or India!

BP’s Insidious Coverup and Propaganda Campaign

Out of Sight, Out of Mind…

Since BP announced that CEO Tony Hayward would receive a multi-million dollar golden parachute and be replaced by Bob Dudley, we have witnessed an incredibly broad, and powerful, propaganda campaign. A campaign that peaked this week with the US government, clearly acting in BP’s best interests, itself announcing, via outlets willing to allow themselves to be used to transfer the propaganda, like the New York Times, this message: “The government is expected to announce on Wednesday that three-quarters of the oil from the Deepwater Horizon leak has already evaporated, dispersed, been captured or otherwise eliminated — and that much of the rest is so diluted that it does not seem to pose much additional risk of harm.”

The Times was accommodating enough to lead the story with a nice photo of a fishing boat motoring across clean water with several birds in the foreground.

This message was disseminated far and wide, via other mainstream media outlets like the AP and Reuters, effectively announcing to the masses that despite the Gulf of Mexico suffering the largest marine oil disaster in US history, most of the oil was simply “gone.”

Thus, it’s only what is on the surface that counts. If you can’t see it, there is not a problem.

This kind of government cover-up is nothing new, of course.

“It is well known that after the Chernobyl accident, the Soviet government immediately did everything possible to conceal the fact of the accident and its consequences for the population and the environment: it issued “top secret” instructions to classify all data on the accident, especially as regards the health of the affected population,” journalist Alla Yaroshinskaya has written.

In 1990 Yaroshinskaya came across documents about the Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe that revealed a massive state cover-up operation, coupled with a calculated policy of disinformation where the then Soviet Union’s state and party leadership knowingly played down the extent of the contamination and offered a sanitized version to the public, both in and out of Russia. To date, studies continue to show ongoing human and environmental damage from that disaster.

When the disaster at Chernobyl occurred, it was only after radiation levels triggered alarms at the Forsmark Nuclear Power Plant in Sweden that the Soviet Union admitted an accident had even occurred. Even then, government authorities immediately began to attempt to conceal the scale of the disaster.

Sound familiar?

In late April, after the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded and sank into the depths and the Macondo well began gushing oil, BP and the complicit Coast Guard announced no oil was being released.The Gulf Restoration Network flew out to the scene and saw massive amounts of oil and sounded the alarm, which forced BP and the US government to admit there was, indeed, oil. Such has the trend of BP/US Government lying, countered by (sometimes) forced accountability, then to more lying, been set.

These most recent, and most blatant of the BP/US Government propaganda gems are easily undermined by countless facts. Reality and truth always, given time, find a way to surface…just like BP’s dispersed oil.

Two captains of so-called “vessels of opportunity” helping with the cleanup recently told Times-Picayune reporter Bob Marshall that they saw more oil at South Pass on Tuesday than they have during the entire crisis.

“I don’t know where everyone else is looking, but if they think there’s no more oil out there, they should take a ride with me,” charter captain Mike Frenette said.

Another captain, Don Sutton, saw floating tar balls for 15 miles from South Pass to Southwest Pass. “And that wasn’t all we saw. There were patches of oil in that chocolate mousse stuff, slicks and patches of grass with oil on them,’” he said.

Yesterday I spoke with Clint Guidry, a Louisiana fisherman who is on the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Shrimp Association and the Shrimp Harvester Representative on the Louisiana Shrimp Task Force created by Executive Order of Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

“Right now, there is more oil in Barataria Bay than there has been since this whole thing started on April 20,” Guidry told me.

BP oil is now turning up under the shells of post-larval blue crabs all across the northern Gulf of Mexico. Nearly all the crab larvae collected to date by researchers, from Grand Isle, Louisiana all the way over to Pensacola, Florida, have oil under their shells. Further analysis is showing that the crabs likely also contain BP’s Corexit dispersant.

On August 5th it was reported that a pair of fishermen in Mississippi “made an alarming discovery that has many wondering what’s happening below the surface” of the Gulf of Mexico. They found several full-sized crabs filled with oil.

In Hancock County, Mississippi, Brian Adam, the EMA director, reported, “We’re still seeing tar balls everyday, and I’m not talking just a few tar balls. We’re seeing a good amount everyday on the beaches.”

According to Adam, a rock jetty near Waveland became covered in one thousand pounds of tar balls in only three days time. Keith Ladner, owner of Gulf Shores Sea Products and a longtime supplier of seafood, said this of some full-sized crabs he found near the mouth of Bay St. Louis: “You could tell it was real slick and dark in color so I grabbed it, and opened the back of the crab, and you could see in the ‘dead man’ or the lungs of the crabs…you could see the black.”

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) report from Wednesday claims that 33 percent of BP’s oil in the Gulf has been either burned, skimmed, dispersed, or directly recovered by cleanup operations. NOAA goes on to claim that another 25 percent has evaporated into the atmosphere or dissolved in the water, and another 16 percent has been naturally dispersed. Of the remaining 26 percent, NOAA claims that amount is either washed ashore, been collected from beaches, is buried along the coasts, or is still on or just below the surface.

University of South Florida chemical oceanographer David Hollander says these estimates are “ludicrous.” Of the NOAA report, Hollander says, “It’s almost comical.”

Other scientists also immediately expressed their doubts of the validity of the NOAA report, whiletoxicologists expect to be busy tracking the effects of BP’s toxic dispersants “for years.”

Giant plumes of BP’s sub-surface dispersed oil are floating around the Gulf of Mexico, as confirmed recently by researchers from the University of South Florida.

It was also  that the worst dead zone in 25 years has been recorded in Gulf of Mexico waters. Of course it’s likely a given that this is due to BP’s liberal use of dispersants.

“To judge from most media coverage, the beaches are open, the fishing restrictions being lifted and the Gulf resorts open for business in a healthy, safe environment,” environmental activist Jerry Cope wrote recently, “We, along with Pierre LeBlanc, spent the last few weeks along the Gulf coast from Louisiana to Florida, and the reality is distinctly different. The coastal communities of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida have been inundated by the oil and toxic dispersant Corexit 9500, and the entire region is contaminated. The once pristine white beaches that have been subject to intense cleaning operations now contain the oil/dispersant contamination to an unknown depth. The economic impacts potentially exceed even the devastation of a major hurricane like Katrina, the adverse impacts on health and welfare of human populations are increasing every minute of every day and the long-term effects are potentially life threatening.”

Cope continued:

“In May, Mother Nature Network blogger Karl Burkart received a tip from an anonymous fisherman-turned-BP contractor in the form of a distressed text message, describing a near-apocalyptic sight near the location of the sunken Deepwater Horizon — fish, dolphins, rays, squid, whales, and thousands of birds – “as far as the eye can see,” dead and dying. According to his statement, which was later confirmed by another report from an individual working in the Gulf, whale carcasses were being shipped to a highly guarded location where they were processed for disposal.”

“Local fisherman in Alabama report sighting tremendous numbers of dolphins, sharks, and fish moving in towards shore as the initial waves of oil and dispersant approached in June. Many third- and fourth-generation fishermen declared emphatically that they had never seen or heard of any similar event in the past. Scores of animals were fleeing the leading edge of toxic dispersant mixed with oil. Those not either caught in the toxic mixture and killed out at sea, or fortunate enough to be out in safe water beyond the Source, died as the water closed in, and they were left no safe harbor. The numbers of birds, fish, turtles, and mammals killed by the use of Corexit will never be known as the evidence strongly suggests that BP worked with the Coast Guard, the Department of Homeland Security, the FAA, private security contractors, and local law enforcement, all of which cooperated to conceal the operations disposing of the animals from the media and the public.”

Cope added, “The Gulf of Mexico from the Source into the shore is a giant kill zone.”

Earlier this week, marine biologist, toxicologist and Exxon Valdez survivor Dr. Riki Ott took a flight over southern Louisiana. Here’s some of what she wrote about it:

“Bay Jimmy on the northeast side of Barataria Bay was full of oil. So was Bay Baptiste, Lake Grande Ecaille, and Billet Bay. Sitting next to me was Mike Roberts, a shrimper with Louisiana Bayoukeepers, who has grown up in this area. His voice crackled over the headset as I strained to hold the window. “I’ve fished in all these waters – everywhere you can see. It’s all oiled. This is the worst I’ve seen. This is a heart-break…”

“We followed thick streamers of black oil and ribbons of rainbow sheen from Bay Baptiste and Bay Jimmy south across Barataria Bay through Four Bayou Pass and into the Gulf of Mexico. The ocean’s smooth surface glinted like molten lead in the late afternoon sun. Oil. As far as we could see: Oil.”

“When we landed after our 2-hour flight, our pilot told us that she sometimes has to wipe an oily reddish film off the leading edges of her plane’s wings after flying over the Gulf. Hurricane Creekkeeper John Wathem documented similar oily films on planes he chartered for Gulf over-flights. Bonnie doesn’t wear gloves when she wipes her plane. She showed me her hands — red rash, blisters, and peeling palms.

If peeling palms are an indication of the oil-solvent stew, the reddish film on Bonnie’s plane and others means that the stew is not only in the Gulf, it is in the rain clouds above the Gulf. And in the middle of hurricane season, this means the oil-solvent mix could rain down anywhere across the Gulf.”

Dean Blanchard, one of the most important seafood purchasers in Louisiana, recently attended a Town Hall Meeting with a BP representative in Grand Isle, Louisiana.

, Blanchard stands up and addresses the BP representative at length.

“Ya’ll didn’t give me enough money to pay my bills. I can show you. For the electric bill and everything. What I’ve collected from BP, so far since this started, is less than what I paid out in bills. And I’ve cut my things down to rock bottom. But how do you expect a man to live on less than 10 percent of what I was projected to make? I don’t believe there’s anybody in this country who could pay their bills with just 10 percent of their check. We borrowed money preparing for shrimping season and this happened at the worst possible time.”

Blanchard added, “I ain’t got no job, and no money, and Mr. Hayward gets $18 million and a new job. That’s hard to take. Let me tell you. Very, very hard to take.”

I should point out that from my first days Louisiana, I’ve been hearing from fishermen working on BP’s clean-up operations that BP is using night flights to drop dispersant on oiled bays. I’ve seen video taken by fishermen of a white-foamy substance in the marsh the morning after these flights took place.

Blanchard went on to say that he felt that BP did not want to clean up the oil, that it was more cost effective for them to leave it in the water than to clean it up, and then mocked the preposterous government claim that most of the oil is gone because you cannot see it from the air.

The BP rep, Jason, clearly nervous, later responds by saying, “We are doing over-flights, our task forces are looking for oil each day. We have a communications room where they are able to call in sightings of oil, from the boats, from the task forces. There is…I understand the anger and I understand the frustration. A couple of things that Dean said I have to take exception to. We do want to clean up this oil. I can understand frustration. I can understand seeing certain people getting certain amounts of money and some of the things that people see. But someone is going to have to explain to me why BP would not want to clean up this oil.”

Blanchard had clearly heard enough of BP’s propaganda. To the representatives’ request to have someone explain to him why BP would not want to clean up the oil, Blanchard angrily obliged:

“Because it’s more cost effective for ya’ll to come at night and sink the son-of-a-bitch! When the oil’s coming around, they call ya’ll, they tell ya’ll where the oil’s at, and the first thing ya’ll do is tell them to go the other way, ya’ll send the planes, and ya’ll fucking sink it! [Spray dispersants from the air] That’s what ya’ll are doing, come on man!” He sits back down angrily. “Let’s quit playing over here and tell the truth. Ya’ll are sinking the oil, Jason! You know ya’ll are sinking it. You know what ya’ll are doing. Ya’ll are sending all the boats, you’re putting them all in a group at night, we all hear the planes, and the next morning there’s nothing but white bubbles! What do you think, we’re stupid? We’re not stupid! Ya’ll are putting the oil on the bottom of my fishing grounds! Ya’ll not only messing me up now, ya’ll are messing me up for the rest of my life! I ain’t gonna live long enough to buy anymore shrimp!”

The lives of Gulf coast fishermen and residents are being destroyed. Scientists, environmentalists, and toxicologists are describing the Gulf of Mexico as a growing dead zone, a kill zone, and an energy sacrifice zone. As you read this, oil is everywhere around southeastern Louisiana, and continually washing ashore in Alabama and Mississippi.

Meanwhile, Doug Suttles, BP’s chief operating officer, announced Friday that the company may not give up on its claims on the Macondo well. “There’s lots of oil and gas here,” he said, “We’re going to have to think about what to do with that at some point.”

Of this, Louisiana’s St. Bernard Parish President Craig Taffaro said it’s no secret that BP wants to drill again. In fact, he said, it has been part of his conversations with BP since the oil crisis began.

Let us be clear about who, and what, we are dealing with here.

America’s Future: Squalor, Superstitions, and Fatalistic Sloth

“You don’t know my people—the squalor, superstitions, the fatalistic sloth that they’ve wallowed in for generations. You don’t know what you’re in for if that fleet of brutes ever lands in your lap. Everything will change in this country of yours. They will swallow you up.” Jean Raspail, “Camp of the Saints”.

The author served notice to his beloved France 30 years ago with that incisive novel. The French didn’t listen. The United States isn’t listening, either!

After the past dozen terror attacks around the world such as 9/11, Madrid train bombings, London bombings, nightclub bombings and Theo Van Gogh stabbed in the streets of Amsterdam—in December 2005, Paris, France burned. Their ‘fatalistic sloth’ rose up with Molotov cocktails that torched over 10,000 cars.

America’s own suicide stands SO self-evident through Raspail’s words when he talks about Europe proceeding toward its own peril when it allowed the rate of immigration to exceed the rate of assimilation. They swallowed the deadliest scorpion in the Middle Eastern desert by inviting a stone-age culture and religion into their advanced European culture.

Raspail said the immigrants were, “righteous in their loathing of anything and everything that smacked of present-day Western society, and boundless in their love of whatever might destroy it.”

His tale speaks of a million Third Worlders from India bound for Europe to save themselves from what they created in their own nation—utter misery and failure of their society. Failed societies lack law, morals, sustainability and civilized behavior. Raspail described the ragtag immigrant convoy, “Everywhere, rivers of sperm. Streaming over bodies, oozing between breasts, and buttocks, and thighs, and lips, and fingers — a welter of dung and debauchery.”

Does anyone catch the parallel with present day Mexico and Central America? Can you glimpse Felipe Calderon’s failed government and wretchedly miserable society procreating endless millions tramping across America’s borders in a desert armada exceeding Raspail’s novel? How about Africa and Asia’s starving millions? According to the World Health Organization, 18 million people starve to death worldwide annually.

In a sobering rendition of Raspail’s novel, an immigrant horde pours into American from Mexico. To be exact, America suffers over 10 million illegal alien Mexicans thus far with more streaming over the gunnels of the USS United States. In the past century, Mexico increased from 50 million to 104 million. It’s expected to hit 300 million in this century. Does anyone understand that Mexico cannot care for its 111 million today?

In his novel, Raspail said the French had given up their souls to multiculturalism and the façade that it ‘might’ work. Instead, he said the French had become nothing more than millions of sheep. If you look at the parallels, Americans have been duped into multiculturalism’s living nightmare now manifesting in Holland, Britain, Belgium, Norway, Spain, Italy and Germany.

“Man never has really loved humanity all of a piece,” he wrote. “It’s inherent that we like some more than others—and some not at all.”

Most in the U.S. realize what is happening in Los Angeles, Miami, Detroit, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago and most other enclaves of this 21st century illegal horde. However, Obama ignores it, disdains action and continues the dogs of war in other countries while our own country suffers invasion.

The fact remains that nations survive only if they unite around common emblems of nationhood. We’re giving our nation away today to legal and illegal immigrants whose governments and societies failed them. They arrive in massive armadas to sink our society.

Raspail gut wrenchingly tosses a dart-in-the-center with his depiction of the systemic guilt-tripping that afflicts America. We’re embarrassed into celebrating horribly incompatible ‘diversity’ and unworkable ‘multiculturalism’ being knifed down our throats while we either gag or die in our own quiet futility.

Who takes advantage of our pathetically unguarded borders? Calderon’s daily demographic invasion recaptures much of America for Mexico. While we battle in Iraq, Middle Eastern immigrants grab significant chunks of Detroit and other cities where they build mosques at breakneck speed—to date—1208 mosques in America.ca. Call them ‘markers’ and they proceed on course to add another one at 9/11 Ground Zero in New York City.

The irony of America’s demise stems from our inability to stand for our own beloved country, much like France. We watch Paris, France become Los Angeles, California—within a matter of months or years-yet most citizens won’t move a finger as their country heads into the Raspail’s social toilet.

From this journalist’s viewpoint having seen it in my travels in Asia and elsewhere in the Third World, it’s sickening to watch as it advances into our country at our government’s behest and our citizens’ disinterest. Why? We’re a nation of immigrants and most of us, like the French, think these massive hordes will finally come to their senses and “become Americans.” One look at our cities illustrates that they “ain’t becoming Americans.” Push ‘1’ for Spanish and ‘2’ for English and ‘3’ for Arabic.

France suffers unemployed Muslim youths with no citizenship in their home country, and no loyalty to their new digs, but America suffers 20 million illegal aliens from God knows where. It’s not ‘if’ our street riots will begin, but when.

With massive population onslaught from overloaded locations in Africa and Asia– France, as well as Europe, represents moribund countries as the gates of their borders suffer an endless invasion of out-of-control fecund societies.

Becoming frightened, Australia, last year, arrested a dozen Muslim-Australian citizen men involved in a terror-bombing conspiracy. They told a group of Muslim clerics if they wanted Sharia Law, they needed to “move back from where they came-we intend to keep democratic law in Australia..” The clerics quieted down but nodded knowing that their numbers will increase given enough time so they will prevail to force Sharia Law on their host country.

Will America escape this massive horde in Raspail’s novel? It’s possible if we call for a 10 year immigration moratorium. It’s possible when we force those overloaded and failed nations to deal with their own masses. It’s possible if all Americans step up to be heard at the local, state and national level. It’s possible if every state develops another D.A. King, Terry Anderson, Roy Beck, T.J. Bonner, Ray Haynes, William Gheen, Dr. Bill Herron, Jan Herron, Terry Graham, Chris Simcox, Bob Copely, Mike McGarry, Barbara Coe, Governor Richard Lamm, Peter Gadiel, Andy Ramirez, Barbara March, Bonnie Eggle, Glenn Spencer, Garrett Chamberlain, Buddy Bishop, Rob Luton, Tim Bueler, Ezola Foster, Brenda Walker, Don Collins, Peter Brimelow, Dan Stein, Dr. John Tanton, John Rohe, Jim Gilchrist, Lupe Moreno, Angie Morfin, Luca Zanna, Robert Vasquez, and Tom Tancredo. Patriots and statesmen will stand up for their country. Politicians pitiably will not.

It’s possible if the pundits and radio talk show hosts become the “21st Century Paul Reveres.” They need to write more and talk faster. They must create a ‘consciousness shift’ that creates ‘counter critical mass’ that forces our national leaders to change our Titanic-like course.

Will Mexico or any of the rest of the Third World such as China, India, Africa, the Middle East and Bangladesh all of a sudden develop stable, sustainable societies? Not a chance! They drown in hurricane accelerating Katrina human numbers increasing so fast—they can’t solve their problems. Their citizens flee to First World countries by any means possible.

Will unending millions be able to keep coming to the United States for a better life? Will our society survive their onslaught?

The grinding reality is: NO!

What’s to stop them? Our presidents, except Eisenhower in 1954, succumb to the dollar or their own faltering characters. For a chilling treatise on the fall of once vibrant civilizations, I leave you with the sobering research by Pulitzer Prize winner Jared Diamond’s latest book, COLLAPSE.

You can change the future by your actions today. If we don’t stop them-do we give up this nation as easily as France and most of Europe? Like cattle to the slaughter house, do we offer our country onto the butchering block of national suicide?
