What Brit Hume doesn’t know about Buddhism and the Sorry State of US Christianity
January 15, 2010

Recently on the Bill O’Reilly show, Brit Hume advised Tiger Woods that he should turn from Buddhism to Christianity. On ‘O’Reilly’, Brit Hume Reaffirms His Faith; Tells Tiger Woods He Should Turn to Christianity The truth is that the best Christians are also Buddhists, such as Thomas Merton, Trappist monk poet, social critic and mystic, who said: “I see no contradiction between Buddhism and Christianity. I intend to become as good a Buddhist as I can.” [Steindl-Rast, 1969, "Recollection... Read article
Tea Party Citizens – Forces To Be Reckoned With
January 14, 2010

The Tea-Party movement is holding a February convention in Nashville, TN. Why? As planners put it, to provide information, tools and techniques; help tea party leaders network and connect with others in the movement; and, provide unity so leaders can work towards a common goal. There is some suggestion that lawyer Mr. Judson Phillips, planner and organizer of the convention, is using volunteers to profit from the whole shebang. He’s also owner of the for-profit Tea Party Nation. I suggest you follow the money. So much... Read article
Talking Zionism in the Financial Times and from the Mount of the Beatitudes
January 14, 2010

Tony Judt is a University Professor at New York University who recently wrote that “Israel must unpick its ethnic myth” published first in the Financial Times. Judt also provides the lead for this Christian Anarchist’s response regarding Zionism. Judt wrote: What exactly is “Zionism”? Its core claim was always that Jews represent a common and single people; that their millennia-long dispersion and suffering has done nothing to diminish their distinctive, collective attributes; and that the only way they... Washington Moves to Control Iran’s Revolution
January 14, 2010

It seems that President Obama has finally woken up. He now realizes that the U.S. friendly “color revolution” in Iran that he hoped for — and planned for — has gotten out of control. To the Democrat’s terrible regret, a real revolution is under way. An extremely revealing article in the Wall Street Journal entitled “US Shifts Focus to Support Iran’s Opposition,” explains the U.S. government’s unpleasant wake-up call. The article is essentially a debate among state officials and other “experts”... Read article
It Is A Madhouse Out There
January 13, 2010

I think we need to face it: 2010 is more than a new year; it is also part of a new era in which all vestiges of normalcy and common sense have been left behind. In other words, it is a madhouse out there. Let me give you some examples of what I’m talking about. Example Number One: In the world of anti-gun elitists, only common people are not allowed to defend themselves. According to the Richmond (North Carolina) Times-Dispatch, “A sheriff says a North Carolina state senator shot one of two intruders at... Read article
The Death of Liberalism in the United States
January 13, 2010

It’s no exaggeration to say that President Obama was the Democrats’ last chance to maintain some level of political legitimacy in the eyes of working class Americans. Now, after a year of solid pro-corporate policies, it’s obvious Obama has failed; and with him the Democratic Party. Well-known “liberals” are beginning to denounce Obama’s polices, but not the Democrats as a whole. Instead, these esteemed liberals are promoting “real progressive Democrats,” i.e. the Democrats who are used as props by the leadership... Read article
War and Empire

“Our culture is in sympathy with the devil because it resents the claims of the sovereign God of Scripture. As a result, it will stomach any absurdity in the name of education; it will continue to tolerate the destruction of its children morally and intellectually; it will continue to tolerate crime in the streets and in every corner; it will continue to tolerate degenerate men as politicians. It will continue to do these things and more because it has said of the sovereign, Jesus Christ, ‘We will not have... Read article
Congolese Women and Girls Suffering the Insufferable
January 11, 2010

By Emily Spence and Brian McAfee While in the eastern Congo last summer, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated, “With respect to companies that are responsible for what are now being called conflict minerals, I think the international community must start looking at steps we can take to try to prevent the mineral wealth from the DRC ending up in the hands of those who fund the violence here.” In relation, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s UN supported armed assault against rebels in the eastern... Left Wing and Right Wing: It Is All a Big Lie
January 9, 2010

The mainstream media – including Fox News, Limbaugh and the big-time media that calls itself “Christian” – would have you think that the grand battle is between the left and the right. This is such a lie. Here are some examples. GW Bush outspent Clinton by $1 trillion per year and continued every last federal welfare program – and added a few of his own – and left-wingers hated him. Obama has continued all of Bush’s wars – and added a few more – and right-wingers hate him. Left-wingers say they... Read article
The Cathedrals of South America
January 9, 2010

While in South America this month, I first visited the main cathedral in Santiago, Chile, and then I saw the main cathedral in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They were both highly lovely. And they both featured a multitude of paintings, murals and statues that glorified the strong physical and emotional bond that exists between adults and children. There were many statues depicting St. Mary nurturing and protecting the baby Jesus. Then there was St. Christopher, helping the young Jesus to safely cross a river. And of course... Read article

The Return of Robert Rubin… “Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone.” ~ John Maynard Keynes There’s no denying that the economy is getting better, but will it last? Many economists don’t think so, including experts at opposite ends of the ideological spectrum, like Paul Krugman and Martin Feldstein. They think the economy will begin to fizzle sometime in the latter part of 2010 when Obama’s... Read article
Praise For Lee And Jackson
January 8, 2010

January is often referred to as “Generals Month” since no less than four famous Confederate Generals claimed January as their birth month: James Longstreet (Jan. 8, 1821), Robert E. Lee (Jan. 19, 1807), Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson (Jan. 21, 1824), and George Pickett (Jan. 28, 1825). Two of these men, Lee and Jackson, are particularly noteworthy. Without question, Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson were two of the greatest military leaders of all time. Even more, many military historians regard... Read article
America Needs Pakistan’s Help — Again (Part 3)
January 7, 2010

The destabilization of Pakistan began with the December 2007 murder of Benazir Bhutto after Mark Siegel, her Ashkenazi biographer and lobbyist, assured U.S. diplomats that her return was “the only possible way we could guarantee stability and keep the presidency of Musharraf intact.” That advice is consistent with how Israel wages game theory warfare. See: How Israel Wages Game Theory Warfare Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf signed his own political death warrant when he announced that resolution of the Israel-Palestine... Read article

Live from Argentina: Sarah Palin is no Evita!
January 7, 2010

“Do you have any Evita T-shirts?” I recently asked a docent at Buenos Aires’ Evita museum. I wanted a T-shirt with a picture of Evita Peron on the front. Is that too much to ask for? Apparently so. Here in Argentina, Evita is either worshiped as a saint or vilified as the devil incarnate. In either case, no one here wants to wear her image on a T-shirt. Rats. Even finding the Evita museum was a whole bunch of work and involved at least two subway transfers and a whole bunch of “Donde... Read article
Obama and Iran’s Opposition
January 6, 2010

By Mark Vorpahl On the weekend of December 26 – 27, the Iranian regime saw the greatest threat to its survival to date as possibly millions flooded the streets across the nation to express their opposition to the government, facing off with the regime’s notoriously repressive security apparatus. From his holiday retreat in Hawaii, President Obama saw fit to make the following statements: “The United States joins with the international community in strongly condemning the violent and unjust suppression of innocent...
