Where We Are

And Where We Are Going…

people movingIt has varied over the years but each morning when my wife and I sit down for breakfast I read a portion of scripture. A decade or so into my Christian walk Patty and I had the privilege of knowing a Christian Gideon name Tad Wilson. Thirty years ago Tad passed into his Heavenly Home but we still have the tattered copy of the Gideon guide for daily scripture readings that he gave us. It covers the entire Bible in the course of a year. We do no always complete the morning and evening readings but over the years we have been blest to have read through the entire Bible several times. As part of our morning prayer we confirm Psalm 118:4 “This is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” My mother often quoted that verse. In these dire times it is important that Christians continue to rejoice and be glad.

We have been reading through Jeremiah and into Lamentations. The prophet’s admonitions to God’s chosen people are as applicable today as they were 600 years before the birth of Christ.

This is what Jeremiah wrote in the first six verses of the Fifth Chapter of Lamentations: “Remember. O Lord, what has befallen us; look and see our reproach! Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our houses to aliens. We have become orphans without a father, our mothers are like widows. We have to pay for our drinking water, our wood comes to us at a price. Our pursuers are at our necks; we are worn out, there is no rest for us. We have submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread. Our fathers sinned, and are no more; it is we who have born their iniquities. Slaves rule over us; there is no one to deliver us from their hand.”

Take heed, America! Our inheritance is being transferred to international bankers who are strangers to us. Our houses are now occupied by immigrant aliens. Our Heavenly Father is being shunned and our earthly fathers are being marginalized, denigrated, and killed in foreign wars. Widow-like divorced women are everywhere. We pay for food, water, and heat. We work long irregular hours for companies that are owned by aliens. China holds most of our debt and produces most of our consumer goods. President Barak Obama’s unconstitutional authority has been contested but no one has delivered us. Our fathers, also, sinned and died and along with our own sin we bear theirs. http://www.phrases.org.uk/bulletin_board/23/messages/844.html .

King Josiah, a righteous king, was a contemporary of the Prophet Jeremiah. Josiah cleaned up the temple and restored worship. He was one of God’s favorite Kings. But the price of the sins of Josiah’s forefathers had not been paid. 2 Kings 23:26-27 reads “However, the Lord did not turn from the fierceness of His great wrath with which His anger burned against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked Him. And the Lord said, ‘I will remove Judah also from My sight, as I have removed Israel. And I will cast off Jerusalem, this city which I have chosen, and the temple of which I said, My name shall be there’”. In spite of Josiah’s righteousness God destroyed Judah as punishment for the sins of his predecessor Manasseh.

United States is being destroyed by pagans just as Israel and Judah. Our generation is not the only generation guilty of arousing the wrath of God. Our forefathers were guilty too.

In the Book of Samuel, Eli was replaced as judge over Israel by Samuel when Samuel was still a young boy. Eli sinned by not disciplining his profligate sons, Hophni and Phinehas. When Samuel grew old he made his sons, Joel and Abijah, judges over Israel. But Joel and Abijah were dishonest; they took bribes and perverted justice. The elders came to Samuel and asked him to appoint a king. God told Samuel to accede to their request allowing them to reject God as their King and install a human king in His place but it was not the desire of His heart; His hearts desire is that we choose Him (King Jesus) as our King and obey His commandments.

God gave the prophet Ezekiel a vision of twenty-five wicked rulers of his day. (Ezekiel Chapter 11) “And behold there were twenty-five men at the entrance of the gate, and among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaniah, leaders of the people. And He said to me, ‘Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity and give evil advice in this city, who say, Is not the time near to build houses’?” God told Ezekiel to prophesy against them and that He would deliver the people “into the hands of strangers and execute judgments against them”.

(Please note that God gave Ezekiel a vision and told him to speak against specific individuals. God is specific; not vague like our Christian leaders!)

It is very difficult to miss the simile between the conditions of ancient Israel and Judah and the United States of America.

When the Constitutional Convention was convened in Philadelphia through the scorching summer of 1787 it was not the first attempt to alter the Articles of Confederation. A previous attempt had been made in 1786 when a meeting was called in Annapolis. Only 5 of the colonies sent representatives indicating a wary attitude. Powerful forces that included Washington, Madison, and Hamilton were bent on jeopardizing freedom through this secret meeting by forming the thirteen colonies into a single nation with an overarching federal government. It was not their intent to crown Jesus as King and God’s Law as the law of the land. http://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h368.html The express intent of the Philadelphia meeting was to alter the Articles of Confederation but this appears to have been a ruse since it was quickly discarded. Judgment from the throne of King Jesus was not rejected, it was never even considered. Like Israel in Samuel’s time we choose human rule.

Over 200 years have gone by and today our nation, with some 70 percent of it citizens claiming to be Christian, is passing laws that make God’s Commands illegal. It is electing government officials who appoint worshipers of foreign gods to high positions. These evil changes are being enacted without substantial resistance because the power that belongs to God, that should be righteously wielded by His chosen people, has been systematically dissipated through divisions created by false doctrines. The rise in the worship of the idols of men was responsible for the secular nature of our founding document and our founding document opened the door for additional dissipation.

For several years I have written about sources of more righteous leadership and have attempted to reason with Christian leadership about confronting the great evil that has begun to overshadow us. These efforts and the efforts of several other writers have been heard by a handful of readers but have been rejected by the overwhelming majority of Americans and their leaders. Christian men and women who have read them have refused to hear the truth they contain and have chosen to support the status quo.

Even though the prophetic ministry is not applicable to our time, the treatment of truth tellers is quite similar to the treatment of the prophets during the First Covenant. Christian leaders are deaf to our message, the media will not carry our writings, even popular Christian internet sites refuse to publish our essays, we are not socially acceptable, our families carefully evade our writings, and most of the Christian community either shuns us or dutifully ignores our pleas.

In spite of classic indications of judgment and captivity few are ready to recognize God’s censure. Patriots are in the process of staging more vehement protests and Christians are attempting to rectify evil through government. We are still encouraged to write and call our congressmen, to demonstrate, to protest abortion, and to fight the homosexual agenda. I believe it is too late. I believe God has already decided that unrepentant citizens of the United States of America will be delivered into the hands of strangers who will execute judgments against them. I believe our leaders will be severely chastised for failing to hear the voice of God and for failing to teach their flocks specific courses of action. I believe the generational citizens of the United States will be punished for a prideful arrogance that has been responsible for the deaths of millions of their fellow human beings all created in God’s image. I believe we will be punished for allowing the sound Christian doctrines of the Puritans and Pilgrims to fall under human idols and heretical Christian doctrines.

When God allows us to fall under bondage, like ancient Israel, we will slowly realize the nature of our sin and slowly, like King David, we will understand that “The sacrifices of God are a broken and contrite spirit: a broken and contrite heart”. God cannot bless those who support their own sin and the sin of their nation. All have sinned and fallen short of the mark and only those with a broken and contrite spirit and a broken and contrite heart can realize and appreciate the forgiveness God has purchased for us through the agony and death of His only Son.

May we make Him King by obeying His commands!
