Ron Paul’s Message: Hope Not Change

February 1, 2008

Last night was a disappointing show. The staged (so-called) debate in California (Jan. 30) was just that, staged. Fresh from the Florida primary, McCain and Romney responses were like watching two kids in a school yard egging each other on. “I’m more conservative than you” and so it went.

CNN, LA Times and Politico exhibited their bias by focusing on the McCain-Romney same-o message to the exclusion of Huckabee and Paul. Huck and Paul probably felt like they should have just sat in the audience, or gone to the local Starbucks for a Frappe, for lack of participation in the “interviews.” Certainly not a debate.

This “interview” of the two frontrunners was biased from the beginning. The real debate followed this staged skit by leaving people reflecting on the lack of manners and courtesy towards the other two candidates.

What would Ron Paul have said on all the issues raised? His message is simple: We must return to government under the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law

Paul hasn’t made it into the big league of top runners but at least he’s been making the circuits, appearing on Jay Leno and Glenn Beck who both asked intelligent questions. I suggest watching Leno’s interview on . Leno was gracious in giving Paul the time to respond at length on some of the more complicated questions. CNN’s Glen Beck stated that “Ron Paul is the closest to the founders” of any candidate running for president

When GOP Ron Paul is mentioned in the media covering the primaries, albeit briefly, there appears to be a wish for him to just go away. Send away the only “Hope for America” candidate, one who saw the Handwriting on the Wall for America’s future 30 years ago. Like a Jeremiah lamenting the sins of the people, he never diverts from his conservative message.

Paul has been consistent in all areas of his life, exemplary character, holding to traditional values and boldly facing the future of this country. He doesn’t talk or use his faith in God politically, but it’s there underneath everything he says. He’s the most conservative, traditional gentleman in the ball game. Can’t be said for all other candidates of both parties.

While McCain and Romney, add Huckabee, try to outdo themselves in their claims to be the “most conservative,” the true conservative continues walk the talk.

Why is the establishment, Republicans, Democrats and the media trying to keep this good man from becoming a known quantity? They fear him. Rightly so. The same government which disingenuously claims to follow the Constitution is the same government who ignores Ron Paul’s message.

Despite the call for “change” in Washington, maybe 3 to 5 percent of voters are waking up to the fact that if we elect any of the frontrunners, we are going to get “more of the same” in Washington, DC. Paul’s message is attracting self-reliant citizens from across a wide range, all ages, all groups and continues to resonate in increased numbers of thinking citizens.

‘We the People”

Unfortunately the people, like sheep, have bought the rigged messages of the candidates. Not because of qualifications — any one of the candidates will continue the journey on the road to European socialism, a global economy and ensure the decline of civilized society and the Republic. Evidently the people, addicted to receiving hand-fed fodder and herded like cattle, accept this as their “right.”

The one who wins the GOP nomination will give them everything they have asked for, right? How many citizens really believe those words? Truth these days is in short supply and particularly in the political arena. The citizens, supporting one or the other of the frontrunner candidates, are following instead of thinking. These days, it seems people are led by “who will provide” their wants the most.

Instead of a constitutional government and a virtuous society, we have lost our way. We have accepted and been ensnared by a growing nanny-state government controlling our lives to the detriment of our freedom and liberty.

This man is trying to tell us something, which we’ve all forgotten over the last few generations. If only the people-sheep would open their eyes and ears, we might see how our own selfishness is reflected in the government arena, the actions of the people we elect to office.

Hear the message even if you don’t like it. Maybe you will think and reflect on the kind of America you’d like to see for your children and grandchildren.
