Fund Trial starts in Manhattan Supreme Court

The long awaited trial arising from the accusations that John Fund, then and still, the mind behind the editorials pumped out by the Wall Street Journal, convened to impanel a jury on Tuesday, July 11th and today is expected to begin hearing evidence.

The trial, which Fund told associates would never happen, is expected to run until Friday of this week but may stretch out longer.

Fund was charged with abusing his long time live-in girl friend, Morgan Pillsbury, in early 2002 and managed to evade prosecution on criminal charges some say through political manipulation of the District Attorney’s Office. Fund has long been closely associated with those who are known to have manipulated the system in various ways, including Karl Rove and such New York figures as Richard Johnson of Page Six.

Rumor has it that the Wall Street Journal told Fund the case must be tried and he is not permitted to settle. The consequences of losing, the source went on, will be ejection from that old and profitable institution.

The Trial has taken the media unawares with many expressing shock that the matter had not previously been resolved. Updates on the events will be available as observers in court make facts available.
